For the Canon shooters out there, why doesn't Canon put a DX crop mode in their full frame cameras like Nikon does?

What would you do with this logo? Would it be for your business or just messing around?

I ask because if for a business, it sends a really mixed message. Otherwise, I think it looks cool-it does need the blade edges to be rounded tho.

I'm probably wrong about the why part but Nikon have quite a few lenses devoted to crop bodies whereas Canon only have/had a few. You could have a bunch of DX series lenses that were worthless when you upgraded to FX (the DX lens won't cover all of the FX sensor).

I'd be willing to guess Canon don't have a crop mode because there isn't really a need for it.

the reason why I like the idea of a crop function is to get a greater focal length without having to use a TC

Really? The mount is EF. Doesn't support the EF-S lenses.

They have more non-FF lenses called the EF-S now then they did when the 5D2 came out. So you are correct. They took far too long to upgrade the 5d which is now why \/\/\/ his argument is almost true

Yeah, I just noticed it after looking at it three times for other people :D

It's confusing because EF-S works by moving the back of the lens closer to the sensor and it cannot be mounted on a body that doesn't support it. Yet all the new bodies (except 1D) seem to support EF-S yet they all have EF mounts (including the 1D).

    Retarded.

I agree that it is rather confusing, but the new bodies, with the exception of the 1D series have FF or APS-H which is a 1x and 1.3x crop respectivly.

The EF-S moves it back towards the APS-C (1.6x) crop frame to give it a better image, but can still use the EF (which is mainly for FF cameras) but the image it shows, is bigger then the actual sensor. Which means excess light fall off that can or cannot harm the image.

The EF-S is also rather new and inexpensive to the EF lenses, for the amateur.

But when the amateur wants new lenses, he/she is not restricted to the EF-S lenses.

That is at least how I have perceived the difference, and I may be wrong

So does anyone use 500px?? So far most of the people on there seem to be far beyond my skill level right now. I don't know, not sure if I like it yet.
