The famed Dakar Rally, the epic of motorcycle, car and truck race across the Sahara Desert was cancelled yesterday by organizers citing direct threats of terrorism from Al Queda linked militants. Source: Associated Press.

He didn't. He pre-moderated his post to save the mod's some work.

The cancellation is a very sad development for auto enthusiasts and manufactures around the world. I wonder why the organizers can't find a new permanent venue in a place like Arizona or California where similar terrain exists.

These religious fanatics are really frustrating me beyonds words can express. I cannot comprehend how a religious sect can be still stuck in the 1500 century.

They are anarchist, they are not complete until they wreck everything, they are like a disease, and need to be gone from this earth, Im not saying beaten by Allied forces, Im saying everyone needs to be killed, there blood needs to stain the ground for generations to see and KNOW that we will not put up with this.

Id be genuinely interested to find out how many wars Christianity has sparked off in the last 150-200 years.

in that time period i have no idea...but the crusades and the spanish inquisition(sp) definately were. i was trying to find definate answers while searching the net and i always kept seeing these general questions...."how many wars have been started by athiests? how many have been started by pagans? how many have been started by people who believe in evolution?" not sure of those either, but my guess is that it would be microscopic...if any...compared to wars started by religion, not just christianity

Agreed. religion is a much more sensitive subject than evolution, etc. Just ask that one suicide bomber...wait, nevermind. I guess my point is that Christianity as a religion has evolved to to conform to modern day standards of humanity, while a few others have not.

It's not a religion if it condones murder, bombs and bloodspatter should never be a measuring stick on how much you love your "GOD"

I beg to differ. I believe, Western society systematically forced the RC Church to evolve into its current state. Fearing further loss of parishioners and parishioner revolt in our democratic society, the Church changed its "business plan" as a mode of survival in a new era.

That is what I believe. ;)

i'd say budhism (sp) is more for humanity than christianity. u can go into most christian churches and they're after money, spewing homophobic rants, or trying to go the george w. route and use scare tactics into trying to keep people close to them when there's no need. churches nowadays are purely in it for the money. they're getting tax exemptions, tax breaks, etc and yet they're still wanting everyone's 10% so they can kick back. a church that i used to go to as a child had a pastor that embezzled money and another that divorced his wife after cheating on her w/ a woman in the congregation, just to get married to that one...hypocrites...and christianity is always brought up or used when its useful to that person or to make them seem better than someone else for not going to church or having religion.

and on a side note, i find it funny that they praised and loved narnia, passion of the christ, etc w/ no uproars or protest from non-religious people or other religions, but yet piss and moan and bitch when the golden compass came out and tried to get it banned from theaters...cmon...if u dont like it, dont watch it. no one is gonna make u pay $15 for that dvd or $8 for that movie ticket to watch it. oh...and i thought in the "good book" that all people should be seen as equals, but yet so many christians supported the slave trade and my old church had a balcony for them so that they could keep tabs and still keep them segregated...and they also hate gays...i still dont understand that one. who cares what someone else does. we're supposed to be this modern thinking society and yet people wanna complain about 2 people getting married across the country from them who they'll never meet or ever have any impact from them in their entire life. ok....i'm back down for now i think.

oh, and the master....we're all allowed to gripe on george w., including u...but we'd harp on ur prez too if anyone outside canada knew who it was...haha...some comedian said that on tv the other night and i though of u...lol

edit: oh and another thing...i love it how christians say that they arent forcing their religion on anyone, etc..blah blah blah....but how many tv commercials, billboards, movies, books, etc are advertised for them? just a thought i had when i was driving and saw another billboard w/ some bloody hands w/ nails through them. i respect other people's decisions on what they do or do not believe in, but i dont need to be accosted or bombarded w/ it as i'm driving down the highway or trying to watch csi on tv.
