Yesterday I ordered a K&N Air Filter and Changed the oil. When I was changing the oil filter I noticed this. Some people said it is because my boot has a rip somewhere, which I have not found. They also said that the clamp is probably loose, I found the clamp to be tight. cv_814c3815bd7eedd3f47f8d5f200cdbc053b46ff3.jpg

Sometimes the rip is not real noticable, but when you drive the centrifugal force will work the grease out through small cracks. I would say clean the whole area really good so you can track where it starts to ooze out, or you might find that it is dripping from somewhere else onto the axle.

Thanks man I do not know a whole about the mechanics of a truck yet. So its most likely just a boot replacement. Do you think I could do it myself if so?

I actually just went out and looked at the boot again and it feels like there is a tiny gap between the clamp and the green axle.

cut the clamp off and throw a hose clamp on there for a nice temporary solution. A better fix is a new axle or boot kit.

here we go. Ford 9" rear after breaking 5 sets of gears in the stock yota 8.8, 5.13 gears with a detroit hard locker, 63" chevy leafs and custom hangers, sky's front spring hanger with sky's extream hysteer and PSC hydro assist ram and PSC pump. welded front spyders in the f-550 front dana 60 with warn hubs, pico brake lines and hoses, elecrtic fan, TRD supercharger with URD 2.1 Pully, URD Map-ECU2 and cage built by me. wide band a/f by inovations, lots and lots more...........
do you have the crimping pliers for that clamp? they sell them at lowes for $18 and the clamps you will fined in the plumbing section.. i use them on every thing now because hose clamps loosen up and or strip out on the tight stuff... cut the clamp off and clean the boot off with brake cleaner make sure it doesnt have ANY little tears or holes in it and put a new clamp on.
