4500 miles on the 2012 and first OC due.....

It's a "free" oil change service from my dealer. Is my warranty linked to where I HAVE to get it done at dealer? Or if I use a Toyota filter can I do it at home? Anyone read their warranty specs?

 

you shouldnt have to do it already? you're only at 4500 miles. I had to do mine at 5k but that's because mine is 4 cyl. I think yours is 10k or 15k.

you can do it yourself. it is not a requirement of the warranty to have a dealer service your vehicle.

 

I thought v6 was suppose to be 15k? lol im guessing only my dads v6 gets at that time -_____-

 

It certainly does fall within that criteria but some people like to do their own maintenance and if your dealer is like mine then yes they will provide you with a filter but not oil as my dealer gets their oil in 55 gallon drums. Yours most likely sources theirs the same way.

Alan, call your service manager and ask them. Mine was very agreeable and had no problem with it at all but did point out that they offer free inspections and tire rotations with these "already paid for services" that may not be convenient for some with the amount of tools and space that is available in the home workshop.

 

alright, i know theres alot of people that do their own maintenance...just wondering..
id take it to the dealership to get it done until that period is done...then just do it on my own...

 

When you do your own oil changes keep all your recipts and write down the date and mileage. Here's a way to keep track of everything...

....and I'm at 4,500, but it won't be but a few days before I'll BE at 5k!
If I knew there would be a conscientious mechanic doing the work I'd be ok with it. Might still do it and take a chance. I'll call the salesman I guess. It is dealer 'already paid for' 2 year maintenance, so maybe I'd better find out all that is included.
Normally I do it myself on all other vehicles.
