Barely Used Tacoma (2011, 2009) or new 2012?

    I put gas in it...
So, the price difference between them is negligible. With the interest rate incentives, I could almost get the 2012 cheaper than a used one.

My question is, what all has changed in the 2012 other than the nose job?

Would i be better off / safer going with like a 2009 4D, 4x4 or have they made some awesome change in the 2012 that should push me in that direction?

Or is there something in the 2012 that would steer me away from it?

    Thanks!

Yeah OP. I'm not sure if I read anything in your post that would steer me away from buying a new one. I think in most cases you would be better going with new. Plus the new car smell is pretty cool.

Ok cool. And most of the 2nd gen accessories still fit the 2012? Cept for the headlights obviously...

Pretty much. Floormats don't. And anything on the front end (steel bumpers, etc) might not match up well. From the firewall back, it's mostly the same truck.

The one major difference - the instrument cluster lighting is white, not orange. That alone makes the 12 better than 05-11.

Interior in 2012 is better looking in my opinion-does anyone really need a 6 disc cd changer in the trd? And has the usb, ipod input. You know it has not been trashed by previous owner. Don't know if the 2012 is going to have the airbag recall eventually, as the previous years have had. The price for new has also come down, from what i checked. Got my 2012 for $4000 less than what someone i know paid for his 2011 new. I looked at 2009 and up before i went new, and the few sellers that had what i was looking for would not move on the price and wasn't much less for a used with 60000km.

V6 has a new smog pump that interferes with installing an intake other than that I have no complaints. Plus I think the front end looks way better

    The 2012 vs the 2011:
    Better radio
    Blue tooth compatible
gauges and switches were reorganized a bit - both 12v sockets are side by side instead of being on either side of the panel
    usb port
    white gauges

I have consistently gotten over 22 mph highway the last 3 tanks of gas. Never got close to that on my 2011

Oh and Weathertech floor mats fit -- the hooks on the floor are in a different place but they don't slide around at all.

Interior changes were small but an improvement nonetheless. White dash lights vs orange is nice and the head unit is actually readable in daylight. My arm rests aren't that gay cheap cloth in the 12, um. . . Oh the whole entune is an option but I didn't even bother looking into it. Satellite radio is free for three months :D that's all i can think of but overall I would definitely buy new if i were you just for the incentives and warranties alone. GL

Also IMO, (that's an opinion disclaimer people) the headlights and bumper are an improvement, its just the grill, something about it that I've narrowed it down to, that looks semi-off about the front. I think the bumper is def better, but that grill. . . . . haha

I had a 2009 TRD Sport and hands down appreciate the improvements in the 2012 enough to recommend getting the 12. Dunno why, the changes are minimal, but I just really prefer the 12 over MY 09.
