To Give it Hell! or Not

My truck gets used well, and since my gig pays for the gas, I find myself giving it hell a lot more. Now, I do take care of my Taco, run synthetic, regular maintanence, wax, OC's, etc. Nothing but the best for my baby. I am approaching 75,000 miles, and it still runs great. Any stories, or thoughts on the abuse you have put on your taco? Will you continue the beatings, or start treating it like your grandma?

 

genxer36 has an 05 tacoma and has 110,000+ miles and no problems and going strong

 

I'm 73 and drive like an old lady (a really old lady)! ! ! !! It seems the older you get the less faster you need to get there! ! ! !

 

"You've got to clean out the carbon" thou i dont think there is much carbon with only 6K. I give mine hell sometimes just so i can hear my intake and exhaust

 

Just reached 60,000 on my 05 and I get on it every now and then. My company also pays for my gas so I really don't worry about that.
You know you have to "clean the carbon out" ever once and a while.


The way I figure it if I can put 150,000 on a Ram and Dakota I so I should be looking at at least 250,000 on this Taco.

sometimes i like to make sure that right pedal operates at it full range. I just make sure i unplung the scangauge, i hate seeing the mpg when i do that.

 

I'm at about 58K on my '05. I've been goin pretty easy on her lately. But every now and then I'll punch it just to make sure she's still got it. I've actually had a lot of people wantin to race me lately, so I've been gettin on it a little more than I've been wantin to. But it's ok. She's still got PLENTY of life.

 

X1, only 53 though.

 

112,000 miles and still going strong. I did recently have some odor of coolant. Had it checked out & the techs couldn't find anything. They said the belt (original) & water pump are in great shape. No sign of leaks.

I do not baby my truck. I take off quickly at traffic lights & do 80 on the interstate. I tow a bass boat 8 months out of the year. And my truck is still as strong as the day I got it.

No noticeable power loss. I started using synthetic oil at 80,000 miles. I'm planning on changing my rear diff fluid this weekend.

 

I give my truck hell in a way.... i am a newly licensed teen so all i love to do is punch it when i have the room to just to hear my truck roar. I dont think im hard on my truck, only a few times i think im hard on my truck but thats a few times. I know my truck can handle my driving and accelerating fast

Dang man, every week your truck seems to be getting more miles which aint a bad thing. You and me both drive similar, except i dont tow a boat lol

 

217,000 on mine and still going strong. I got it when I was 18. I'm 31 now. When I was younger I had the thing on two wheels more than once and drove 90+MPH frequently. I also used it to haul lawn equipment. Now that I'm older, I treat it better but still go on avg 75-80 on the freeway. It just keeps on going.

 

Yeah I put some miles on my truck.
40 miles oneway to work. My new girlfriend lives on the NE side of athens 35-40 minutes away. Just got back from St. Simon's Island. I would like to get a commuter vehicle for back & forth to work.

 

Dang dude... you do drive alot..... it would be wise to get a commuter car so your tacoma doesnt have to be in the stop and go traffic everyday.

 

I'm not in stop & go traffic. I work opposite of traffic. I'm at work now. & will get off @ 5am. But it would be nice to preserve my Tacoma & use it as a yard work/boat towing vehicle.

 

Once again Dang dude... 5 am? you would deffinetly not hit traffic, well atleast your in stop and go traffic cause that is never good for any vehicle. Do you garage your Tacoma?

 

Unfortunately I cannot garage my Tacoma. My boat fills up my garage. The tacoma was covered/garaged the first 3 years of ownership. And when I was on days, I parked in a parking deck. So, no paint fade from the sun. Still shines as it did when it was new.

 

Thats the thing i mostly worry about with my Tacoma, paint fading, my truck parks out side but in shade and i park her in shadish area at my school parking lot, but still i dont want her to fade and the dash to crack which is why i have that cheapo tin foil sun visor that goes across the windshield
