Applied for a permit today and will be getting my first gun this weekend. Getting a Ruger lc9. Pretty excited about it and learning about guns. Anyone used this gun before? Will post pics once I get it!!

congrats! i haven't shot one, but i'd presume 9mm in a small package might jump a bit... i think it's a well liked model though..

Yea I am excited to shoot it this weekend. Any idea of some good ammo? I know the gun store I am buying it from can help, but I want to be somewhat knowledgable when going in there so I do not sound stupid. I already feel crazy to be 21 and know little to nothing about guns

federal, winchester, remington, pmc, ... for range duty, just get 115gr FMJ, i.e. "ball" ammo... make sure you understand safe operation of your pistol... 4 rules of gun safety - obey them ;)

    All guns are loaded
Do not point at anything you are not willing to shoot
Keep finder off trigger until ready to shoot
Be aware of target and surroundings

i buy target ammo from walmart the federall fmj is pretty cheap...as for ammo for defense id go with something like ranger t or the like once youve gotten it broken in....what ever you decide for defense make sure it performs flawlessly

for target ammo just about anything with brass should be fine...for defense purposes whatever you choose to use...feed a couple boxes thru it to make sure it works flawlessly

I run Hornady TAP in bout everything I carry except my .40s in which case I use Winchester Ranger SXT

ive shot that gun, it was my friends first purchase as well. has an extremely long trigger pull. good gun. does have a kick to it but nothing you cant get used to. you could still use one hand if needed.
