Remember that ultra gay seal? thats also my idea of URC. Having raced and been around my share of those types(Jang) from the time I was 12 up to 20, I can say that you'll never see them win any races.

They were always the guys who talked incessantly about what setups the pros used for their cars, having balanced tires, constant rebuilding shocks and changing weight oils for the time of year and this and that.

I showed up with my worn out horribly out of balance tires, setup that i came up with and whatever shock oil I felt like running and I'd beat the dog shit out of them time and time again. Hard to be gangster when you're being lapped by a 16yo racing expert. I never had the best car, motor, "setup", tires or anything that Jang bitches about in his videos and I won races.

Just finishing all my builds, cleaning them up. Current project is fixing up my firestorms.

Man that depends on what level of paint job you want. Airbrushes can be had fo next to nothing, (not the best ones) but ones that will do above what "most" are running. Brushing don't take long, and great results can be had with proper mask and prep work. Rattle cans, same thing, except for fades and such. I went by the local track, (first time in a while) and pre sold almost a dozen custom painted bodies.

Why not use a little of all? I have the eastwood dual action ab. Was only like $70 if I remember. Takes A LOT of practice, I have had it about a year and I still suck.

You can use a liquid mask or the white 3m masking tape on the inside. Draw your design on the outside and trace with a hobby knife VERY LIGHTLY on the inside. Or you can try the vinyl masks to get logos, words etc. Peel what you want to paint. Paint dark colors first when possible to prevent bleeding.

As far as paint goes. Your local hobby store will have Pactra or any kind of lexan paint. Clean the body with dishwasher soap first and wipe down with denatured alcohol 2nd. Will keep paint from flaking off. Use multiple light coats as opposed to fewer thicker coats. Rubber/latex gloves are a good idea to keep oil from your hands off.

These should do you just fine: http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php/supplies.html?cat=760

    Sounds pretty advanced.

So on the proline body it has a protective film. Is that only on the windows?!?!

Brush/spray on mask is by far the way to go. just draw your design on the film on the outside, and go to town. just seems less and less folks want a bad-ass paint job. I suggest a single action brush for most, (been painting shirts, hats and tee's) since the late 70's. I've got some nice (Itwata) DA's that I never use, my very fav for bodies, a cheap ass Testors from Walmart, wish I could find about ten of them.

No that covers the entire outside of the body to prevent over spray. Leave it on until you are completely finished painting. I edited my last post also.

Single actions are good but are harder to get finer detail. Have to use the compressor regulator to adjust pressure. The dual action lets you control pressure and paint quantity with one finger.

The liquid/brush/spray on mask really is good. However, can be difficult to get off after a few coats of paint are applied. With my experience with it I have even missed spots where I forgot to take it off. The 3m white is easily seen and doesn't leave any residue. It depends on preference.

I fully understand how a DA airbrush works, I own a few. And I can get as thin a line with a single action as with a double. That's not the point of a DA brush, just the ability to do it on the fly. If you have a quaility single, you can adjust the airflow as well.
