Anyone into R/C?

Are the words painted or stickers?

 

Stickers of course. I want a vinyl printer/cutter bad. For this hobby and dirtbike/truck stickers.

Exactly. I will use anything like that. You can even take saranwrap on wet candy colors and dab it. It comes out looking 3d like wavy patterns. I will turn cans upside so they spit little dots all over and back it. Looks really cool and adds some depth too.

 

Paper towels or plastic wrap dabbed looks great in candies, backed with silver. One effect I've ruined a couple of bodies trying is sprinkling water on the body, spraying a light transparent color, letting the water dry, shadow the "drops" and highlight the tops, then backing. I used to have a tutorial, on the process and wanted badly to get it right, to no avail.

 

That would be cool to try. I never thought of using actual water for drops. I have a bunch of sheets of lexan since I do the overtrays so I use that stuff to test out different painting methods before I do it on a body. Those 4x8 sheets of .020" are dirt cheap too. I have a place locally that sells it. If you can get a few sheets it's great to practice on. It comes with the film on both sides too, just like the bodies have.

Are you forming those yourself? Four inches wouldn't be wide enough for most models, would it?

 

4X8 feet. Like plywood size.
Yeah I made my own vacuum forming machine and the molds by hand. Now that is alot of work. But I live to make stuff and customize things.

Squeeze me. I was thinking small I guess. So, what's the point of one, just keep a bit of dirt out of the chassis? Can one be any tighter than a normal buggy body? I guess SC trucks do gather a lot more than stadium (what I still run, I know it's old hat, but so am I).

 

Yeah. For mud and rocks. They love to water the crap out of the track and I was totally sick of cleaning it off after every race. Jconcepts makes them for every truck but the scrt10 so I decided to do it. The pinion and spur gears are really exposed and were always covered in mud. I even added venting areas to cut out for mesh, front and rear.

Anyone has any experience with associated RC10T4.1 RTR, I'm tempted to pick one up as they are so cheap. I'm mostly curious about the reliability of the included ESC and motor. Just went to a race on Sunday and between that and this thread I'm itching to get back to the hobby but don't want to spend a fortune again. I still have tools, bunch of fluids a good charger etc... I know Associated is good in general, I had a NTC3 a long time ago and my friend's RC10GT was pretty good.

 

i may, if you don't mind, ask you your settings for the RX8/ballistic setup when mine comes in

The RTR Brushless version would be very, very nice. And a boat-load of fun. I've got the SC10, which is pretty similar to the RC10, but in a short course. I don't know a whole lot about the running gear in it. Now looking back I wish I had gotten the RC10 instead of the short course. Here's a quick vid I found, skip to a bout 1:00
