yea i say go with the 285's...they look great and the duratracs ride pretty dang smooth

what kind of lift you going with?

If you would be down to drive a lil bit there is a tire shop i got my duratracs at that did the 4 tires mounted/balanced/installed for 1000 bucks even (plus tax) and they were quick about it. All they do is tires, in and out real quick

I have a 3 inch Toyotec with Eibach springs, 5100 billies and the TSB add a leaf. I still have the stock 265/70R16 that have seen better days. I like the Duratracs. But before I replace the tires I am going to replace the UCAs.

good deal...i would highly reccomend the DSM ones...they are made really nice. Just make sure you have a press to get the bushings in...talk about a bitch to get in...took longer to do that than the actual install.

if you need an extra bolt for the uca i has one.

if you are going to RC...maybe you can check out my set up...its similar..5100s with OME 885s on it along with the DSM uca's

I was pretty much set on the LR UCA. But I will defiantly check out the DSM UCAs. As for the bolt, I was just looking at that the other day. It looks like the bolts have to be cut out because the fender well is in the way, unless there is enough play in the once it is half way out to go behind the fender. I had plans to replace the the bolts anyway so if you don't need that bolt I take it off you hands just let me know what you want for it.

whaaaaaat? just use grease and a C clamp.. could even use grease and a hammer. Or a vise. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

you need to bend the sheet metal out of the way. there is a uca install thread on here.. probably stickied in the suspension section. don't worry about how much you bend it... it doesn't matter anyway and can't be seen when you put the splash guards back on.

well over all design id go with the dsm ones...get the uni ball instead of the boot thing that the LR ones have. To each his own but you mine as well do it right in case you change anything in the future.

You can get the bolt out it just takes bending the sheet metal and banging away at the bolt to force it through. Took me and anthony to get mine out. so make sure you got someone with ya to give ya a hand if you wanna make it easier on yourself.

if you want the bolt and nut...i think it was like 15-17 bucks, the part slip is in my glove box.

yea we used a c-clamp....i didnt mean a press press...i meant a vice. The c clamp worked but was still a bitch in a half to get in. 5 minutes??? you should of come and did mine...took like an hour each side to get in. just ask anthony. you get the bushings in ...but then the other piece that goes inside wont fit in...you put in in before you put the bushings in and then the bushings dont fit...ended up doing the bushings first...then wacking it a million times with a hammer to get it started enought to fit a c clamp on it. took alot longer that it needed to.

That's good to know. Save me the trouble cutting and replacing. I'll take a look at that thread.

I like that you can get more movement out of the Uni ball, but it sounds like the ball joint is less maintenance. How long have you been running your DSM UCAs?

Just tint and ppl for now.
You can get more movement out of the uniball but you will never see that movement with standard or mid travel set-up. The shock will top out before the you can reach the limit of the uniball. This is the same for LR ballpoint. My FOX extended travel shocks top out before the LR ball joint reaches it's limit. Now with the new pivot bushing setup on the LR UCAs, there's no reason not to get them. They take the abuse you can through at them and you don't have to worry about the unibal pitting or squeaking.

The pitting and the squeaking was kind of what I was worried with the Uni ball especially living so close to the water down here the salt air is hard on everything. I have been hearing alot of good thing about the new updated LR UCAs.
