    Good Morning Tom!

Before I forget to ask again...what will I need to trim for those switches to fit. The opening or the switch itself?

The opening. I used a small file. Once you pop off the insert you will see the way the plastic is molded in the opening. You do not make the opening any larger. You will see once you remove the insert.

 Got it...appreciate the info...just had to clear that up in my head. Once something gets in there it keeps rolling around until I satisfy it.

What are you up to today? :)

Working on the HID retrofit. Time to do the BHLM or is it BLHM mod. This should take 3 days for painting. Waiting for the paint to dry is the killer.

UPS just dropped off the cover for a new iPad that I ordered formy wife's birthday gift.

    Good Morning everyone!

I guess that this kind of news comes with getting older.....it sucks.

Got a call yesterday that a good friend died Sunday. Great guy always up for anything and in good health...at least on the outside. Proves that things may not be quite right on the inside.

If you ever read Autoweek, Road&Track or Automobile magazines etc. you may have read some of his work. He was an excellent writer and loved cars.
Especially his 1967 Porsche. On Sunday, he was at Willow Springs raceway in SoCal with the Porsche club. He was out on the track dicing it up with other cars and was really putting in a hot lap. Pulled into the pits and parked next to his trailer and just sat in his car. His son and wife came over to the car just as he was having a massive heart attack. He was 65.
Very sad....but WHAT A WAY TO GO! Just way too soon. He truly lived for being with his family and racing his old Porsche.

    Rest in Peace....Patrick Paternie.

I recognize the name, I was an avid Road&Track reader when I was younger.

 God Bless Him and comfort his family and friends.

 Odd feeling...but the fact he died doing what he loved so much seems right some how. Not sure how to feel about that...but it's there and very strong. Too soon none the less...I guess no one gets any kind of guarantee ... Thanks for sharing. --Rob

    Rob,
My feelings exactly. If I or we had a choice, I would definitely choose passing away while doing something I love doing over laying in a hospital/nursing home not recognizing my wife and family, urinating on myself, being eaten away by some monster.
I will miss my friend as I do other...many other friends that have passed too soon. But each passing makes me realize that it is important to seize the day. Live everyday to the fullest and show the people I love just how much they mean to me.
There is already a plan for members of the Porsche club to attend his funeral by the hundreds...all driving their Porsches....revving their engines to high heaven!

When I retired from active duty Air Force it was a time of introspection for me...I realized that from time to time I let the job/mission skew my focus from the really important parts of my life...I realize it was just part of the gig on active duty...but after 26 years what I had left was my family and good friends I made along the way...somebody else stepped right in and would make sure the planes flew and the mission got done.

I made a commitment to myself that I would stay focused on what I've come to call "the good stuff." The job now is just a means to support the "good stuff.' That's one of the reasons I keep up with this thread...I've always felt it was important to listen to my elders...as we get older it seems natural to try and pass on what we learned along the way...folks in this thread seem to have a good grasp on what's important...keeps me grounded and in touch with the "good stuff." :)

What an awesome tribute the Porsche Club will make at his service! :D

I'd be remiss to end this without inquiring about JoAnne; I've added her and you to my daily prayers. Kristi's Mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Summer of 2010...she went through radiation and chemo and has been Cancer Free for over a year and a half now. The Devil Cancer can be beat! Keep the faith my friend. :)

    God Bless you and yours!

I have subscribed to Autoweek and have read his articles. I am sure the next edition of Autoweek will run a nice article on him. He will be missed.

I love to send my past editions of Autoweek over to a service man stationed overseas. They do get passed around the barracks.

    Thank you Rob.....
JoAnne is doing well. She has good days and not so good days, but considering the overall picture she feels incredibly blessed. Blessed to have found the cancer at an early stage and to have some of the best Drs to help her get through this to be healthy and alive. Her next surgery is in two weeks and will be the reconstruction of her breasts. I think this will have a huge affect on her "not so good" days. I have seen a completely different JoAnne develop over the past three months. She believes God is holding her hand. I do too.
To be told you have cancer and then after surgery told you are cancer free is the ultimate scary thrill ride. Scared ****less during the ride, but then an incredible great feeling when the ride is over!

 The right Doctors make all the difference. Mom was going to have her treatments in Sioux City, IA close to home; but after her son (he's a RN works for MD Anderson Leukemia Center in Houston) got involved and consulted some of his Dr friends, she went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. That decision, and God's good graces, probably saved her life. We'll keep the prayers and positive thoughts flowing your direction! :)

The primer is on the headlights. Going to let them dry till tomorrow morning then start to paint the BSP.

2 coats of adhesion promotor and three coats of flexable primer. Drying time was 1 and 1/2 hours between coats 1/2 and 2/3.

I am just taking my time and I figure I can correct any lack of coverage with the paint.

I hope I did a decent job with the masking. I used a yellow tape made by Frog. Stuff does not leave any residue when removed. By contrast the 3M blue painters tape leaves a very stickey and hard to remov residue when removed.

Frog also makes a green take that works very well.

It helps to pick up a set of donor headlights. Just sayin. :anonymous:

afternoon all: sorry to hear about your friend rob but what a way to go. a shock to the family, but a blessing in disguise.
also: good point; there are doctors, and then there are doctors. just like anything, some are better than others.
looks good tom. gotta remember that tape. I thought that the blue 3M painters tape wasn't supposed to leave any residue. apparently it does.

today got the rear floor fitted and installed, then painted all the deck surfaces with non skid. the big projects are done. now its down to a few smaller projects, and tweek, tweek, untill i get it just right. example: when I first took it out the first night, and turned the fishfinder on, the darn thing almost blinded me. never saw a fishfinder with that bright a backlight. since it's a brand new unit I didn't know how to dim it, so just had to live with it for awhile.

    Carl:
I enjoy detailing cars and the blue tape leaves a residue that is a PITA to remove,
