Just bought my 2012 DCLB TRD Sport 4x4 today...gonna lift it tomorrow...will probably get the RevTek 3"...is that an ok lift? $700 installed? I could never install anything by myself so paying someone else is my only option. Also....tire size? Rim size? 285 or 33's? Will they rub? Will I need to cut? I didnt find many examples to look at on the build threads. I need help baaaaaaaad...and quick...I'd really appreciate it. I'm new to the Tacoma World in general. Thanks in advance. Here's my truck and the wheel/tire I'm getting installed...

first of all congrats on the new wheels :D and welcome. You are going to rub and yes you are going to have to cut back some fender. YOu dont waste anytime lifting your truck, just be advised that some dealership i mean stealership wont accept warrenty work on a lift truck which is gay. Did you get the Add a leaf with the lift?? the wheel size you might want to look for 285/70/17.

C'mon dude. put your big boy pants on & get out of the new members area, c'mon its safe..:p

Plus you got a few questions but all I'll answer is if you offroad, dont get spacer lift & with 285's you'll have to cab chop & trim some plastic..;)

That Revtec spacer lift is a waste of money, and the dealership is def. ripping you off. What it does it severely pre-loads the stock spring and strut which are not designed to handle that amount of stress. Another member here had a space lift, went off roading , and it snapped his OEM strut.

If you want a quality budget 3-in lift:
    Front strut: http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-8...5100-series-front-ride-height-adjustable.html
Front springs: (Even though they say 1.6 inch of lift, if you set the strut I posted at 0.85 in. w/ this spring it will give you close to 3 in)
    Rear shock:http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-135588-bilstein-5125-series-performance-shocks.html
    Rear add-a-leaf:

This would put you under $600 for a very very reliable life, and a much better ride quality than stock, this is assuming you do all the work yourself.

Also, you're wheel and tire combo is good. The 285 will def rub if you don't do some trimming of the inner fender liner and chop the cab mount (they're bigger than they need to be anyways). Make sure you have enough back spacing to clear the Upper control arm and you'll be good to go.

I wonder if wheel spacers would be necessary for his setup.. I would go with the Bilstein/Eibach setup like Bishop suggested if you can.

Glad to see you got those rims.. They look amazing; especially when they're wrapped in those Nittos.

Stay away from revtek do a quality lift ie: billy 5100's, OME, or coilovers nice truck and tire wheel combo too

Edit: is that the actual wheel and tire you have right now didnt see that they were 305's you will have to cab mount chop for sure and trim your fender like crazy

i think it would be 285/60/18 or 65 something like that... And if you have some of the basic tools you can install the lift yourself and save all that money.... If you were closer i would help but good luck....

They are legally required to prove that you lift, or other mods caused what ever it is being fixed under warranty. You may have to fight them occasionally, but you can get it done. If you get the spacer lift however, it would be easier for them to say the lift caused any damage to the suspension.

Edit: Your tire choice, as said, will require additional work to fit without rubbing

Few Questions for you.. Are you going to be off-roading in this truck or not?
If so where? If your going to lift it don't. Save the money that your going to lift it with and buy suspension instead of a lift. You will love it in the long run. Breaking $700 lift while off-roading is not fun.. Look at some of these guy's builds.. To get an idea of what you want.

this isnt true.... new law states that the dealership has to prove that the aftermarket part you had placed on the vehicle is or was the main cause or a contributing factor of the damage..

Well done OP. The SuperWhite taco with those rims looks good.

Which lift did you go with?
