    The Dust Bowl
Taxonimically, sheepshed and drum are in different biological families. Sheepshead are in the family Sparidae, whereas the drums are in the family Sciaenidae.

There are a lot of species of drums, even one in fresh water. The Reds and Speckled Trout are two types of drum.

Sorry 'bout all the science, I used to teach fisheries biology.

Other than the "dentures" that the Sheepshead wear (and other things mentioned by Maverick), here are some ways to tell them apart.

Which one tastes better? I know Maverick thinks the Sheepshead tastes better. I have only had 1 dinner with SH. I never had Black Drum.

Cool...pretty sure the fish I seen last year in OBX was a Sheepshead and we were calling it a Black Drum. Unless the black stripes on a drum get darker, I'll have to find the pics.

You can definitely tell the difference by the teeth. Sheepshead have rounded off human style teeth. It's actually quite funny looking. I caught one in a cast net and I had never seen one before that day. But I brought it home and ate it....

They had to drain the lake back down a little, like they did last year, so the river should have more walleye/bass in it...they finally stopped drawing it down yesterday, so I'm heading down there tomorrow evenin to see if I can grab some walleye to bring home and eat. :woot:

I may not have caught anything today but it was pretty cool none the less...

Due to this weird winter or lack there of. I was wearing shorts out in the sun in mid March on Sebago Lake, Maine. and no, I wasnt ice fishing. The ice was out ALREADY! Good times!

Just got back from Gander MT, got a nice baitcaster rod and reel combo. Its a Gander Mt X Factor reel and an 7'0 Abu Garcia Vendetta, loaded with Power Pro 30# braid. Pics to follow, this is my 1st baitcaster so I hope that I can figure out how to fish it.

Yes I was in Islamorada last Spring and my 3 yoa daughter at the time fed icy cold piltchers to some huge Tarpon. I am not sure where it is, I think there were a bunch of places that had that going on Bud N Mary's Marina. Just to name a few. These fish are almost like pets, I dont think you could get anything in there let alone take a fish out, but I would like to see anyone try;)

Here are the pics of the rod. It was very smooth and super light nice and stream line. The pics of the combo didn't come out so well.

Yeah definitely, it Glen Sharp's boat reelsharp sportfishing. Check out the website reelsharpfishing.com . If you check it out the swordfish shots are or my fish. I ended up going out with those guys twice and it was a blast. Since then they have changed the boat's captain. So I am not at all familiar with the new one but Sam the last Captain was awesome. The first mate I guess you would call him Chris is still there and he is awesome too. Islamorada is the fishing capitol for a reason. You won't be disappointed.
