First three vehicles I owned were manaul, have had an auto ever since and will never go back unless I buy a high end sports car. Can't see owning a manual having a truck, just don't see the need in controlling the shift points.

Autos are so much more chill, just push the gas and go.

I just bought a 2012 DC and I decided to go with the Auto. I've drove manuals all my life and never owned an Auto. I miss my manual and the gas mileage it got. But I have to admit not having to shift in the city is pretty damn nice. The Auto seems to shift weird but maybe its just me having no experience with an auto.

If I had to do it again I'd probably go with the manual...I think.

But its hard to find a manual with all the features you want. Which for me was TRD Sport w/entune in mag gray.

I have the 6MT, get 22-23 mpg, no hard shifting, rev hanging or anything. Mine shifts smooth as silk. Would not trade it for an auto.

The choice wasn't based on this at all, it is just a plus for owning the manual. Trust me, i don't let friends/anyone drive my newer vehicles.:jerkoff:

Exactly, I figure she contributed a portion of the purchase price. In marriage there is no mine/yours, it's ours.

The secret is an automatic transmission, 99% of the people that think they can drive a manual better than an automatic can't.

Those figures are for a Canadian gallon which is bigger. I have an Ultraguage which reads in US gallons and it says 19.5. I don't drive like a grandma, but have a light foot once I am up to speed. I usually shift around 2k RPM and everything works smoothly. Also, I take my foot off the gas when going down hills, people tend to keep their foot on the gas just to hear the engine when there is no real need.

Those figures are for a Canadian Taco with a 6MT. Not an automatic.

Debadged all emblems. trd stickers still on for now
just traded in my 02 v6 mt trd ec 4x4, for a 09 v6 at ac 4x4 one reason being, i was tired of all the city stop and go shifting. auto was a big factor in the up grade. love the new truck, followed a '00' trd up and down amazing stuff last sunday, my "trac" out performed his rear locker. yellow wire mod was a godsend, heaven sent.

Okay, so now I have a manual. If you want a tacoma with a smooth ride and better mpg, get an auto. If you want a jerky ride and not so good mpg, get a manual. The 6 speed in the 2nd gens are horrible. I get 13 mpg average. Best was 14.3 for me. My friend's dc auto gets 16-19 mpg. His best was 21. Get an auto. And yes, I check my tires often, clean my air filter, check my plugs, and oil. Still crappy mileage and stock truck.

    None yet.....
I am a die hard manual transmission enthusiast. I learned how to drive on a stick. My father has always driven vehicles with manual transmissions. It's just what I like. The last truck I had was a 2006 Dodge 2500 quadcab 4x4, Hemi, with a 6-speed stick. I loved the reaction I got when people figured out it had a manual in it. Sure the fuel mileage sucked and traffic was a pain, but I always had fun driving it. I want my Tacoma to be the same way, so I got the manual in it too.

It angers me that you can't get certain features on vehicles anymore without it being an automatic.
