Moving wire for bypass mod on avic

Just thought I'd post what I discovered while trying to move the yellow wire for the bypass mod. I read many were struggling to remove the wire from the harness...me included. Simply lift the retainer(holds wires in place and runs perpendicular to the wires) on the harness. Now have the female end of the harness facing you...you'll notice a tiny hole above the slot where the yellow wire is. Insert a needle into this hole and the wire will slide out like a dream. Don't know if someone already posted it but I certainly couldnt find any easy method when searching before I started. Sorry for no pics.

 

I think the power wires are similar for the last few generations of AVIC HUs.

I did the bypass mod on my AVIC Z-110BT a few months ago following the AVIC forums post.

I found the most success and easiest method was to use an eyeglasses screwdriver to pry up the little plastic retainer on the white connector. Then use a staple or something as small to press against the yellow cable pin while lifting the white connector to get the yellow cable out.

Then re-insert in the space next for the successful mod. You'll know it seats correctly when you hear the click. Viola!

 

old thread i know but i just broke the damn yellow wire.......any suggestions where to get another one or am i screwed???

 

You need a molex pin. Female, I think.

Ebay, maybe radio shack, etc.
