Guy I work with has a Double Cab RAM 2500 with the Hemi. He averages 12mpg. When we go out to the woods, he gets around 8-9. So, no he doesn't get better MPG than I do. He also has street tires, and an exhaust that he claims boosted him about 2mpg.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Haha, it is pretty uncanny the resembelance.

Truth be told, I have always loved the looks and styling of Dodge trucks and cars, but just knowing how shitty the reliability is, I would never own one.

So he doesn't care about resale, and opted for the dodge? I'm guessing he plans on keeping it a long time since resale isn't a big deal. Did he not bother to look at reliability? I personally think he's full of it.

my next rucks gonna be a newer dodge diesel, they do look sexy, but if they didnt have the cummins id never buy it, the 318 gasser is an awesome motor, but just about everything else falls apart around it....that was my issue with my current truck.

i had one dakota, a 92 that was bullet proof, but the newer models just dont hold up
on the other hand my yota has 270k with minimal wear and tear

Resale value and fuel economy aren't even close to be related...

Considering that my hemi ram makes 390 hp and is a bigger truck, I'm not surprised that it gets worse gas mileage than my taco. I didn't buy either truck to get good mpgs. Lol. The new hemis have a feature that cuts down to four cylinders when all eight aren't needed, which may help with mileage...

I just traded a 2005 Dakota Quad Cab 4X4, auto 4.7 liter. I got high 13's mpg in the winter, city and about 15 in the summer. Towing a single sled enclosed trailer or jet ski it got around 12. On a trip to Dover loaded I got 20mpg with a friend driving. My average, about 17 on the highway. 15-16 overall average. I'd say it was pretty reliable, ball joints and tie rods once. I had a 1994 Dakota Regular cab 4X4 Auto, 318. That truck FLEW, always got 18-19 average, 23 mpg on the highway. My brother in law had a 2008 Ram Hemi. He got around 12 in town, but always better than I did when we went on a trip to the races on the highway.

I got my 2012 Tacoma DCLB auto at the end of February and only put a couple hundred miles on it. 16.9mpg all in town.

It's been warm in the Northeast and I've been on my 2010 WR250R, 65-72 MPG :)

Check Fuelly.com You can browse vehicle types as well as engines and body configs within each vehicle type. That should give you a ballpark of real world figures. At a glance, looks like most fullsize trucks are getting 15-16 mixed driving (F150, Chevy 1500, Ram) and Tacomas are avg 18-19 mixed. Not a huge difference.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
he sees toyotas hung up on trails because people wheel them. can't say i've ever seen a 1500 hung up on the trails, but that's because i haven't seen one out there to begin with.

My roomate has a 2011 with the smaller motor 5.something not the denali 6.whatever, still nice trim and 4x4 just didn't want the big motor and hes still only getting 12.5 mixed and he doesn't drive it hard. Now highway only he gets 17-18 because it shuts cylinders at the moment you start to coast or decel. That said he hasn't reset his since new and he has rolled on it hard some just to show it off with people in it, but most tanks he stretches out so I'd say 15 mixed is max for the small motor much less the larger.

My recommendation is to go to fuelly.com and look at people with the specific model. What the sticker says is one thing, that they actually get it something else. Fuelly.com is what people actually get.

Here is the link. 22mpg isn't looking so good.

i agree any dodge product cant even compare to any toyota product. i owned a dodge and its to painful to even think about how many problems i had with a barely used grandpa driven truck i inherited.
