I've always used california gold on all my vehicles. Wax varies depending on vehicle. The Mustang is garage kept so it gets the higher quality stuff less frequently. My daily's which the Taco is gets the spray wax, also mothers.

Protip- for the unpainted plastic parts spray on some of the liquid wax onto a microfiber towel and go over the plastic bits. It lasts weeks and keeps the plastic from looking faded and dull. Also from my usage I havent seen any ill effect.

that's interesting. What is a "little" and what size bucket do you use? I guess you don't notice any weird haze or something when you go to dry it off??

Just got some new product last weekend and used it. Truck looks amazing. My buddy saw It and decided to detail his truck with it too. Cleans, shines but not greasy, and protects. Repels dust and has spf 40. Lol. Great for the dash, vinyl, exterior black trim etc. It's called 303 aerospace protectant. You can get it at your local marine/boat shop.

I have only had my truck for about a month * love it by the way* and while its not new was still a 20k investment, so right from the start I knew it was time to invest in some new cleaning supplies. I came across this site the dayafter picking up the truck and used the ask a detailer thread and autogeek.

I am liking Optimum No Rinse. And for all the Black trim and plastics I went with the aerospace 303. Now i am no auto detailer and waxing always pissed me off cause I would always get it on the trim so I went with optimum spray wax which is advertised as not having any effect on black trim or plastics.

    I do the following:
    -Griots or Meguiars car wash
-Meguiars/Mothers/Griots speed shine to remove water spots (only between waxings)
    -Clay bar (once a year)
    -Machine polish (twice a year)
-Optimum Opti-Seal (after polishing twice a year)
    -Collinite 845 (4 times a year)

I always have excellent water beading and the paint looks great...

I have been using Rain-X on the windows but I'm thinking about using Aquapel, we will see which lasts longer for the price...

And for the Camaro, which never sees rain or anything else harmful I give it one wash a year with no soap and a new sheepskin mitt and dust it any other time...I use a high quality wax (Griot's paste has great shine but doesn't last long enough for the Taco) once a month or so during the summer and a Griot's Speed Shine weekly.

What does everybody use for the tire shine? I am willing to sacrifice some shine if it lasts longer...

I've used mothers carnuba wax for years. It has always been pretty good stuff, always gave vehicles a deep wet look, but the downfall of carnuba products is that they don't last very long (maybe a month or so at most). I have since switched over to using meguire's nxt 2.0 because it is a synthetic wax it lasts twice to three times as long & is widely available.

Some of the boutique products like optimum & klasse are awesome, but they are more money & are only available online.

    None (yet), just bought it
I use Mothers wash also, but I like to use two mits and two buckets..one mit for the top half, and one for the bottom, one bucket with soap and one to rinse the nasty shit out of my mit before soaping it again. After that the wheels get cleaned with a soft bristled brush, and finally the fender wells.

In between waxes (Mothers Carnauba Cleaner wax) I like to use ICE to keep up the shine, some people on here complain about it, but works fine for me.

Also use an air hose and nozzle to blow dry

Meguiar's Ultimate Wash. Provides great sudsing and helps prevent small particles from swirling up the paint.
