60K maintenance and took it to Krone.

    Note to self and others:
If you are going to Krone (or other undercoating) and work under your truck in the same day do the work first, or it gets freaking slippery.

Left home with 167 on the trip and calculated avg of 20.5. Got home with trip at 210 and calculated avg of 21.0. That means the UG thinks I got 23.5 mpg today and it usually underestimates that. I must be on the right track considering this is still winter blend E10 gas.

Climbing hills at 56 mph with the UG reading 22 mpg inst. on this truck gives a very good feeling. 6spd 4x4 can't do 20mpg? Screw that, I'm gonna aim for 25.

Looks good. If you take the inner center console lid off you can work the elastic part of the cover under it and the latch so it looks cleaner and fits better. This is a picture of mine. Sorry its not better, but its all I can do right now.

Had my locker save me a few days ago myself. It's nice when you need it isn't it?

Yes, it was on a big hill, close to downtown and would have been very embarrassing to have gotten stuck there in muddy wet grass ...

This is what I just finished to hide my full size 1911 American Classic II in.

I pulled out the bottom of the center console & traced it to a piece of card board for the "new" bottom.

Then I traced an outline of the pistol onto some foam filter material I got at Wal-Mart. Then trimmed it out with an X-acto knife leaving a cushion under the ACII, but high enough for the original bottom to cover everything when put in the console compartment with the original bottom on top as a false bottom. The photo on the right has everything including the ACII under the false bottom.

Hopefully if my truck gets broken into the ACII won't get discovered.

Here are the pictures of what I did.

    gt40

PS: I copied this idea from someone else. I am also going to cut a half moon notch so I will be able to pull the false bottom off of the ACII with my finger.

x2! I may have to copy that.

As far as my endeavors today, set up for grille config #2. First I ran with just the upper blocked and with a high of 80 degrees today (average for this time of year is 46, WTF!) and temps were very stable. Fan never engaged past its minimum amount. Therefore I decided to try narrowing the lower grille to just the condensor width for the next test.

Using the UG and the intake elbow off I can compare underhood temp and coolant temp. Open everything gives coolant 185-187 and IAT of ambient +35. Upper blocked after half hour of driving gave coolant 188-190 and IAT of ambient +40 but with 1.5-2.0 additional inst. mpg at all speeds over 45 mph. That means mpg when I want it, but give me 10 minutes and the whole kit and caboodle can be out of the truck for more cooling when I need it.

I don't have an automatic so tranny temp isn't a factor. If I did have an auto, I'd be reluctant to go even this far without a SG to monitor it.

So far I'm in $17. THIS is how you do covert aero.
