I seem to remember reading in some thread that the newer sideview mirrors for RAV4's that have the turn signals can be easily mounted to 2nd gen Tacos, but I'll be dipped if I can find the thread where I read that.

Does anyone know if that is fact or myth? Obviously the turn signal wiring would have to be spliced in, but I'm wondering about the actual mounting of the mirrors and how interchangeable they are. ???

The 2012 Tacoma mirrors are tres $$$

The RAV4 mirrors are "only" $100 each -- a lot cheaper.

Don't recall seeing anything on the RAV4, do recall info on the 4Runner though. There are turn siganl mirrors for $100? That is something I'd be interested in, please post details/links if you could.

    Here's a link to the RAV4 mirrors:

    http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Mirrors/To..._content=MRE&gclid=CPbY3sHz5q4CFYQFRQoddBVMig

The blurb reads "paint to match". Not sure if they come primered or what.

My girlfriend has a RAV4 and the mirrors definitely look very similar to my Taco's.

    Actually, they are $170/pair:

    http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Mirrors/Toyota/Rav4/1AMRP00931/593559/2010

They have two different sets - one for Japan built models, and one for US built models. Not sure if there might be a significant difference in terms of fitment with Tacomas.

x3 on the newer 4runner mirrors, research those too. Maybe you can find a good price. You can even check around for some newer wrecked ones or something to snag them off...

I saw a thread about it too, I think the only mod the guy had to do was make a slightly different mounting plate for the mirro itself. Other than that it fit fine.

You will also have to mod a different switch, because I think they are heated as well...

Hmm. The price on those RAV4 mirror is so tempting tho. :p

Maybe when my gf is sound asleep one night, I'll sneek down to the garage and try test fitting the mirrors from her RAV4 onto my Taco, lol

I probably wouldn't even wire in the heaters, as I really have no need/desire for them.

Yeah true. Some guys like them but around here they aren't really needed. You might as well check them out though, if you can find a good price somewhere. Rav4 mirrors will probably be a bit cheaper but you never know.

I hear you on the price. As far as painting, the OR tacomas have unpainted plastic from the factory. Just another option

I got OEM 4Runner mirrors on ebay. One was used @ $147 shipped and the other was new @ $179 shipped. But the catch is, then you still need to buy the covers. Toyota sells gloss black ones for around $35 a piece, no need to paint those.

I haven't installed mine yet...need to find time.

I think the guy that did the 4Runner mirrors took the mirror head off and put it on to the Tacoma bases. Maybe the same thing with the Rav ones????

The 4-Runner mirrors in the links I posted are only $165 for Power/Heated and $200 for Power/Heated/Signal/Puddle light.

    That's for a PAIR...
    With covers ;)

Just ordered a set. I've been wanting heated mirrors for ages, now I'll have turn signals and puddle lamps to boot. :D

Thanks for the link. I'll update once I get them.
