My 7 pin connector has no power flowing into it :(

I Just got done wiring up my trailer for my Jon boat for use in the next couple weeks and i go to wire up my 7 pin to 4 pin connector and come to find out the 7 pin connector has no power flowing into it what so ever.(Verified with a Voltmeter).

Whats the problem and how can i fix it?

I looked at the fuses and they all check out.

cut it off spray it with some wd-40 and wrap it up with some duct tape,,,,, that should do it haha

find the humor man.... my 7 pin connector was broke i bought it from the dealership. no i dea how the bracket broke but it did now its just dangling there....

 

i lol'ed at it. just didnt post it.

I meant the actual connector, not the plastic thing that holds it there.

 

fuses? short? could be a bunch of things... what ear is your taco?

 

its hard to fix on the internet, but helping customers with problems like this, the first thing to do is NOT RIP ANYTHING OUT, but start at the beginning, and work your way back. check everything, fuses ect.

 

my taco is a 2005 btw.

My dad told me to check the fuses so thats what ill do tomorrow.

 

Is it a factory unit. A dealer add on. Or a aftermarket unit.

Not sure but I thought I read something about some Tacos missing a relay or something. Mistake from factory. Maybe someone who is familiar can chime in.Good Luck.

 

That is a real possibility. Ill have to drive to the Toyota Center in town tomorrow afternoon.

 

Check to make sure you have the towing tail relay. This is a diagram of the relay box under the hood on the drivers side. The towing tail relay can be seen on the bottom right of this diagram.

 

Reverse lights wouldn't work.

I believe it was only for 2011 but for sure not for 05

 

I believe i have this relay but i will double check in the morning. THanks for the help guys

 

UPDATE:

So this morning i went to the toyota place for them to tell me that someone apparently was messing with my fuse box and broke the connector that allowed my pin connector to work. They cant order a new connector as they dont sell/make them anymore. So the guy could only quick fix it. >_> It cost me 48$ in labor ._.
