I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Most high load bearings (or any item under rotation motion for that matter) are usually installed by pressing it into place. The hold is actually stronger than if they were welded together (at least in the case of bearings within housings)

CB question again. So I recut a 1/8th piece for my hood hinge mount. I made a drawing of the angles with the degrees for my brother. Dropped them off with him this morning. He gets one of the guys to press brake it and calls me to get it at lunch. Drive over and it was bent the wrong direction.

So the question to this. It would work perfect for the passenger side. Would the fm antenna give me problems being close? What if I don't plan to use my radio while using the CB?

Yeah that'd be problematic. It's gonna be real tough to get the SWR right with that FM antenna right there next to it. Not saying it won't work, but it's far from optimal, where as having it on the driver's side it's nearly perfect.

Not necessarily an issue with using the FM radio, I'd be surprised if you run into interference issues, as the FM radio should be filtered below about 85 mhz anyway. It's an issue with that long thin piece of metal acting to load the CB antenna, or reflect part of that signal.

Now you could always just take off the FM antenna any time you want to use the CB...

Not to mention (in my opinion at least, but you know what they say about opinions) two antennas sticking up right next to each other looks kinda goofy. :p

Answer: trucker antennas. That way you have antennas on both sides.

I'm gonna totally tool out and go all RF enginerd on this one...

In order for that to work they've got to be 1/4λ apart at the operating frequency in order to increase forward and rearward gain. It's called a co-phased array, and requires around 9.1' (minimum) between the antenna to tune up properly for maximum benefit at CB frequencies. Our trucks aren't quite wide enough to make it work right. In reality it'll just give you fits trying to get it tuned, provide no benefit, and potentially could degrade performance.

Ok, ok... I know... radio geekery. I'll stop.

    I'm officially a north carolinian.

Also, I got a $15 amp for my cb speaker that runs on 12v, 3.5mm inline. Works awesome if you have trouble hearing people.

ok. took the truck out tonight for the "first test run". Did good was sluggish until I put it in neutral and stomped on it. After that it ran fine. I think it's time for a fuel filter... Will do that this weekend and see how it runs after that. Did plugs and wires today, fuel filter this weekend. I swear it's gonna run REAL good one day!!!!! lol

I've talked to two different guys so far that lurk TW, do the mods, but have never made an account. I think an account should be required to view this forum.

Look at the current people on TW at any given time, and you'll see more guests then registered users. If all those people signed up, every state would have Huge meets. lol

It would make it easier for people to meet up, but its also nice to maintain anonymity. When I had my cj5, most of the jeep forums are set up so you can't view certain threads or pictures unless you become a member, and once you become a member, you usually get a long list of emails.

Imagine Toyota Nation, but you can't view pictures without joining. It sucks. Not to mention TW is the fastest forum I've ever been on. Most of the time you gotta wait for ads to load and all that jazz. I can't believe bob hosts this site out of the kindness of his heart. He literally is personally responsible for so much because of the way he maintains the site.
