AFE Cold Air

Im about to buy the Afe stage 2 si from autoanything. Does it come with hardware to plug the hole thats on the bottom?

Not seeing it in the instructions or the breakdown ??

 

I just bought one of these as well .. the instructions and part sheet did not include the plug, but it was surely included in the kit (mine was black, not red)

 

It must be pre-installed then in the box?? Strange to me that it isn't noted as a separate piece.

 

Best place to buy the urd intake? I'd search but I'm on a barely smartphone.

 

thanks guys. i thought i read somewhere if you plan on getting water over your hood to install the plug.

I would go urd to get true cold air but it seems like it would just heat up to the same temperature after passing through the intake tube. And it would suck to not be able to hit a puddle because of the cai.

Im mostly getting it because of the sound but then again i dont want it to be super loud!

 

I also hate how you have to take the engine cover off.

Anyone know if the trd exhaust flows better then stock?

What I ment is that the Urd is a true cold air intakebut unless you put ice on the intake tube like some do. Metal is a good conductor of heat so by the time the cold air passes through the intake tube it will have gotten a little warmer? That's just my thinking. Or is the air passing through so fast that the cold condensed air isn't having time to heat up?

Well my buddy has one in his modded altima. Its loud when he steps on it but under 3k rpm its quiet.

 

And as far as the trd exhaust will I see any gain even if its just 2-3 horsepower?

 

Ima be pissed if I have to spend 200$ to fix my check engine light -.-

 

How you figure that? Seems to me about the same amount of heat would be absorbed, to a point, regardless if moving slow or fast. Fast would mean more air to do the absorbing. In the end, the same heat transfer would likely take place. At least IMO.

 

okay ive searched found that afe has thrown check engine lights.
but all you have to do to fix it is unplug battery and drain it then the problem will go away?

so my question is is there any chance if i buy my afe cai that i will have to buy urd maf for 200$?

 

hmm .. been running my aFe for about 2-3 months on my daily driver, no CEL here.

In any case, disconnecting the battery will likely clear the CEL .. if the issue persists the CEL will come back (and it's not something to be ignored just becuse you have a CAI). Instead, I would recommend getting the OBD II reader from Harbor Freight .. you can always check the CEL before clearing it, and clear it without cutting the battery.

As for the URD MAF cal .. this will not clear a CEL (that I'm aware of). It's designed to modify the full-throttle (can't remember if that's open or closed-loop) MAF sensor signal to adjust for the air flow in your aftermarket CAI.
