Bad CV joint!!!

    Well Ive been having this clunk in the front end, well I cant really hear it. Its not that pernounced, but I can def. feel it in the floor board and in the cab. Its most pernounce when going slow or turning. So what do you guys think would be the cost of new cv's if they are indeed bad?

    Napa has some with a lifetime warranty for around $100.00......I think that price is for the whole DS....

    thanks for the info guys! But I got some good news, I just went driving around for about 20 min. went somewhere sas well. But I was feeling and listenning verry closely and didnt hear or feel it anymore. Well just a couple of times! but its def. alot better then what it was. I think it might have been the UCA's....

    if its the cv axles...those are an easy fix...well..labor intensive but not complicated...

    and x2 on buying aftermarket cv axles...theyre generally stronger than toyota ones...plus they have lifetime warranties a lot of times

    Yeah I know its not that hard, but Ive never done it before.... and I love my truck too much to screw something up....I dont have much self confidence!:)

    But I dont think it is... I mean it shouldnt be, bc I dont go offroading and beat the crap out of my truck.

    i did a writeup at one point in time on here of step by step on how to change the CV axles if you ever have to

    let me know and i can get you thru it

    BONE STOCK! lol
    The UCA bushings and the Tie rod bushings go bad on the 1st gens, both can be felt on the floor. Something to look for

    Which is why I told him to de presurize the bushings on his TC's and let them settle back to where they should be.

    Yeah, I think they have. They dont look any different, they might settle down over time. But I do believe it help.

    Dont know how much grease I should have taken out, but it was quite a bit. This is what I did... I loosened the bolt and tapped on the bushings and washings loosened it up to let air get in. Then tightened them so that the grease flowed out of the zerk holes. did it till no more grease could come out. then put the zerks back on. tightened them up to spec and thats it.

    They look like yours now chris. Only a couple of the bushings are buldging a little more then the others.

    Ok, Good. Thats how they all should look. If the others dont go down, do the same thing again. Maybe loosen up the UCA bolt more, and disco the Uniball from the spindle, then cycle them by hand. I hope you havent driven on them too long like that.
