Spark plug help!

    How do you gap the twin ground electrode spark plugs? When I bought them they were set to .025 but my manual says .043! Is this way off?

    Gap them to .040. Each side needs to be gapped at that. Just gap one side, then the other.

    Thanks Chris. I was running them out of the box (. 025) but It was having trouble starting. Is that normal for them to be that far off measurement?

    Yes. Thats why I always say to check the gap, even if someone says they are "Pre Gapped"....:)

    Thanks for your help. I have enjoyed many of your write ups. Also I would like to ask you what cat-back system I should get for my 3.4l v6? I feel better buying a cat-back rather than custom exhaust. Gibson any good? JBA? Jardine? Thanks Alot:D

    Yeah, they are all about the same. Flowmaster give a loss of power. Best gains are had with a Dynomax Super Turbo. Did you do the Deck Plate mod yet??

    The picture doesn't do it justice, but if you look you can see measurements on the "BLADES" I got really good at this on my previous vehicle and all the valve adjustments I had to do(Aircooled VW) just stack,,,,well, if you don't know just let me know..it's really easy a kind of do it yourself job

    Thanks for the help! I just gapped all six and took it for a drive 5 minutes ago. It starts right up now and drives better:D. These spark plugs aren't even a week old yet But i knew something was wrong.

    Its a common mistake. Every dealer I have been to says the plugs are Pre Gapped, and its fine to just throw them in. Now you know for the next time. :)

    Yeah thanks for the help though. I am really picky about my truck haha :). But which cat-back do you think I should get? I know the JBA is 2 1/4" piping and the Jardine is 2 1/5" piping. Which would work better with my engine? I love the sound of Magnaflow but I cant afford that one right now. I have $400 to spend.

    Well one is stainless and the other is aluminized but the area I live in is not very prone to rusting So I'm not sure... I thought about putting a 5x8x18 magnaflow on it and running new pipe from muffler back. It's so hard to decide lol:confused:
