    So here's the story...

Dating for 6 months, my first gf, not her first bf.
Loved every minute of it, good and bad, wonderful girl.
Truly has all the traits that I need physically and emotionally and personality wise.
Her family and parents love me. And all her relatives.
She's just really stressed out this semester because of school and sororities and extracurriculars.
Last week we were totally fine, had fun at a date night.
Things were going great until this week, a fight came up on Monday, she was mad about it all week and didn't talk to me much.

So yesterday we talked about stuff... She said that lately for some reason she's been annoyed with me, and she doesn't know why. She said that I am not being supportive either to her. She said that she didn't like how I mentioned that I had free time while she had no free time and was stressing like mad, she thought I was rubbing it in her face which I was not. She said that she doesn't know if her feelings have changed for me, or if she just is annoyed with me because of the stress. She said it's her problem, and she needs to get over it. I mean, it just happened to be this week that was different after that argument. She said that after we got off the phone earlier this week on Monday after our fight that she broke down and cried... She says that she is different to everyone, not just me, and they see that she is stressed, not only me. So I said look, we need to just take a break then, there is no other thing we can do except that to try to keep this relationship going. While I was telling her this, I couldn't help but breakdown and cry. I felt so weak and embarrassed... She asked me what we would do if it didn't work, and if I'd hate her or not. I was like no I'm not going to hate you... She was like I just don't know if our priorities are the same or not or if we're at the same stage in life.

So I told her, no talk, no text, no FB, no sitting in class together until next Friday, that's a week from yesterday when we talked. It's really hard for me to do this because I really like this girl, maybe loved her, IDK. She is way too valuable to just leave this on a bad note...

Do you think that I made the right decision in taking a break?

Post your input and advice down below.

Listen man, I'll be honest. The best thing to do is wait. Let her make the first move. Personally I don't think she wants the relationship.

Sounds like she is being selfish... From my experiences "taking A break" doesn't really work out.. You either get back with her but it doesn't feel the same anymore or you just break up with her for good.

My opinion: Something's going on she doesn't want to tell you so she's trying to find a way to end the relationship without just ending it cold. Most likely there are some things she really likes about you so she wants to keep you around as a puppy dog.

Take the break and find another girl, there are plenty of them. I'd bet money if you find another girl, she'll have a change of heart and call you back.

Don't go back, smile and move on.

Agreed, there are good women all over the place. Better to find out now than later, perhaps with a house full of rug rats.

If you find one of these move in together. You never really know someone until you wake up with them every morning.

its tough to look past your first love but in all honesty this is just one of many experiences like this you'll likely go through. don't beat yourself up and the less you seemingly care the better off you'll be. if you get all needy she'll feel like the space was a good thing and won't look back your way.

sounded like the classic line, "it's not you, it's me"

right after she slept with some bro from the frat house.

    just being honest!

You're young dumb and full of ... Well you know. Like you said this is your first gf so there are definitely going to be more to come. A 6 month relationhip shouldn't kill you this much. Try breaking up after 4 years with someone and then cry about it. Man up, take your nuts back from her and prolong the break as much as you can so you can save up for something nice for your truck.

Ding ding ding. The reality is she's in a sorority- she's probally hooking up with random frat guys and loving the party lifestyle. She's basically succeded in making it seem like you broke up with her so she has no guilty feelings and that you'll always be there waiting for her. This is one of those lessons all young guys have to learn. If a girl is really into you she will put up with alot of crap AND will need you even more when times are hard on her. I'd actually not talk to her for a week and than just tell her you want to see other people. That way atleast you'll walk away from this with your head up high and turn the leash the other way around a little.
