Hey that guy has a Stig shirt.

More to the point, I've always been attracted to the old DC-3's. :)

Bam, not nearly as exciting but seriously. The 737 has put food on my family's table for over 38 combined years. I takes the cake in my book.

This is it today (pic is live). A new (less then 1 year old) Boeing 777 on its way out of Memphis, TN and heading to Osaka, Japan.

Never seen the production side. I would like to visit Boeing someday.

    BTW, I've worked a few 737 (300, 500 & 800s) in my life.

I may be a bit biased. But here is my favorite airframe being utilized by the military now. CH-47D/F

Hmm, Lots of "favorites" depending on the era:

WW2 - Hellcat. Not the fastest or flashiest but the iron works sure put out a workhorse. The corsair is a close second.

    Korea - F-86 - no contest

Vietnam era - F-8 Crusader. The F4 got all the attention, but the F-8 was a hell of a dog-fighter.

Current era - I still like the F-16. Clean lines and a lot of power in a small package.

I've always been a sucker for F4U-4 Corsairs and F2-Gs
    [IMG]

And Spitfires (they protected my parents during the Blitz, so without them, I may not have been born.)

And B-17s, as other have said. I got to crawl around one in Reno in 1977.

    I love F7Fs

And I am partial to Hawker Sea Furies...

But now it is going back to stock. This is us re-mating the fuselage and wing center section and hanging the engine early December 2011.

Thanks. Yeah, they are. Our had a very modified 3350 that included several models, incuding the coveted EA-2 low-speed (reduction gearing) nose case of the turbo compound model, but the PRTs cannot be used in racing. They are too tempermental and never desinged for the power application and G-loading of a race course.

I wish I were. It was a "hobby" with these guys (college buddy and his family) for years. But they haev "retired" from racing. It takes a hell of a toll on people in many ways: physically, financially, emotionally, you name it. And this was purely volunteer work for us all, the hardest volunteering I have ever done (expcet soem us us were paid during some periods of exceptional effort). I've had the chance to do a lot of R&R kind of work on the plane, and I was basically a mechanics assistant and ran all the logistics and ground ops, oil/cuno filter/ADI/spraybar water service, and operating stuff like forklifts and cranes and tugs and you name it when we were tearing it apart and putting it back together multiple times over the years. The have a couple T6s too. I wish I had the time and resources to really get into the fabrication stuff. I could happily spend all my hours doing that if I had the decades of hands-on experience and knowledge to be paid for it professionally.
