That looks great man. I am debating the truck tent vs. the roof top tent. Price and simplicity push me to the truck tent. I would like to keep the junk (dirt, parts, etc) in my truck bed from mixing with my own bed. Are you going to run cross members above the wheel wells and sleep on a sheet of plywood and padding or just between the wheels?

There is an Outdoor Expo today so I am on my way to check out a bunch of options. Hopefully I can avoid spending my whole paycheck. The tent looks nice. I would love to hear your plans for the interior.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
Nah we are getting an air mattress that will fit in between the wheel wells. We don't have a huge amount of stuff that we are bringing. So what we are will be put in the cab. A roof top tent is awesome and takes less time to set up but a truck tent is more compact and you can leave it in the back of the truck behind the seats all year.

Back from the expo. Only one roof top tent vendor (Cascadia) was there. Got to climb around in one for the first time. They're pretty nice, but I dont know if I want to have camp "stuck" to my rig. It would be nice to just roll in/out of camp without having to set it up each time. its REALLY easy... but. meh.

This is a pretty sweet setup. The matte paintjob is unique too.

The ease of set up is definitely nice. 30 seconds vs couple of minutes. But I like that I don't have to leave mine there and I don't need 2+ people to take it off when I need it off. Sweet looking truck though.

Thats why you build an off road trailer :D then you just leave the tent on the trailer

Saw John Carter today and work..saw in the credits that it was filmed in Utah..mostly in Moab :D

Thats a pretty killer setup. All the pros and cons are dancing around my head. I dont have a great space to store a trailer (like yours or a popup camper) so I have not investigated the excursion trailer option too much. I also dont really want to tow anything. i would like to stay pretty light.
But... that looks so functional. Hook it up and roll down the road. Plenty of storage. A whole list of pros to your approach.

Argh. Still some time to decide, but not much.
