Do-it-yourself Bedliner - worth it?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so here goes....

Has anyone used a do-it-yourself "roll on" bedliner kit? I currently have a plastic aftermarket bedliner, but want something more like Rhinoliner. I saw a kit at Advanced Auto today for $100. Is this a good option or should I hold for a more professionally installed product?

BTW - I tried a search on TC but didn't find a topic match. Sorry if this has already been covered in another thread.

The Herculiner option was one I saw at Advanced Auto. I may decide next week and will post some pics if I do it myself.

Wondering if this (and all do it yourself) applications are fairly easy. My only concern is I do it, screw it up, and have a poor looking liner. I don't think you can fix mistakes with bed liner....

 

A friend of mine used this to cover his k5 blazer tub and rockers. It touches up nice if you do manage to scuff it up. Im gonna do my rockers and flares on my truck next weekend.

 

If you use a do-it-yourself bedliner, it is ALL ABOUT PREP WORK.

You should literally probably spend a full day prepping your bed. If you do a good job with that, the bedliner will be quality and probably last a long time. If you cut corners, it will show.

I say if you're willing to spend the time doing the work, DIY bedliners can save you a few hundred bucks. If not, pay the extra money and get it done professionally.

+1 on the rustoleum stuff...

goes on even and is easy to touch up. Really durable too. Its just expensive to do your whole bed...lol..

rustoleum also has roll on stuff too...but I have never used it. Its like $40 for a gallon bucket.

I used spray on bedliner on my ATV trailer. It is pretty good - for $30 and 45min of work.... but It is NOWHERE NEAR the quality, thickness, durability, etc of a professional spray in liner, like LineX, Rhino, Xtreme liner, etc.

I've used spray liner to paint a bumper and some sliders, and loved the results. But I would never put that in my bed and expect it to hold up to bed-use. It's basically thick, rough, paint. Not the 1/8" thick, rock hard coat that you get from a professional job.

 

I used the rust-oleum spray to paint the top half of my truck. Its been about a year now and it still looks great. I have had to touch up some spots because of rock chips but thats no biggie...

 

Raptor liner all the way. I have used spray can stuff and it cant compare. If you dont tell people they wont know its not lineX. I hardly preped mine and 2 other buddies trucks and they have held up well.
