09 taco lifted too much in the rear? dealer smart or not?

So I take my Prerunner to get the TSB done today, it had when it went in, Billy's up front set at 1.75" and a 1" lift block in the rear, I just got the call that they put in the rear leafs and shocks AND left in the blocks ("because it's better"), now I'm no rocket scientist but won't my angle be too much??? The rear has got to have 2.25" lift now right? I put on 265/75R16 Revo's yesterday to take advantage of the free alignment.

I'm still at work and haven't seen the truck yet but wanted to see if anyone had an opinion about what I should expect to see and if I shouild get the rear blocks removed (yes, the same blocks I just put up for sale)

And the most important question is, why don't they call me BEFORE they do work against my work order??? Crazy dealers!!!

well you could just bump the billis up to 2.5 and it should level it out some. But you will still be alittle higher in the back. Do you tow a lot of carry loads in the back? If so it might help having it alittle higher in the back... just my .02

 

I wonder why that is, they went through the trouble of changing out the leafs so the U bolts had to come off, why would they not change the U bolts. I may just have them lift the front to 2.5" since they're messing up my work order, this is not the first time I've had problems at my dealer. Of course I wouldn't expect to pay for it...

I'm a part time handy man so loads happen maybe once a week or so, I do have my UWS with tools loaded in them constantly, but I can't believe they drove the truck out of the shop and said, now that's a great looking truck, nothing like having the rear WAY high, cause that's what I'm imagining when I go to pick it up...

Thanks for the feedback, what lift do you have up front? How long did it take to settle?

I dont think it will be as high as you think. I got mine done and at first i could tell it was higher in the back and than once it settled out i thinks its only an inch to an inch and a half higher than the front. Now thats stock. so the spacer shouldnt be too bad.

 

Did you discuss with them to take the blocks OUT after the old springs were out and the new TSB springs were put in? If you did, you didn't mention that part.

My bet is that you'd have a post here bitching that it was too LOW after the TSB because the DIDN'T put the blocks back in IF they did take them out.

(You don't have to remove the U-bolts to swing the spring. Loosen the nuts, drop the plate and use that to support the weight of the spring. Lift the spring, flipit ,slide it to the back and slide the new ones in....invrt once again.....Sounds about right)

I picked it up tonight, and I don't really care for the look, the rear is a full 2" higher than the front

Ground to bottom of flare in front 36.5" and rear 38.5"

I really like the stiffer feel of the truck but will probably have them remove the 1" blocks as I don't believe it's going to settle over an inch. I'll post pics when the daylight comes around again.

I would hold off just a bit...

I bet the rear will settle at least an inch...

If not, then you can take the block out...

 

I Have a 3" spacer lift on the front of my truck(dropped slightly due to bumper weight, probably 2.5" lift actually) and the TSB with 1" block under the back and it sits even by wheel well clearance, but the bed rails visually angle down. I'm getting a 1.5" AAL and installing it within the week to get the back to where it was before the TSB(had a 2" aal in my old pack). When I changed over my winter tires back to my regular tires/wheels I stuck the jack under the back and lifted it until I thought the stance was proper, turned out I liked it exactly 1.5" higher than regular ride height.

I don't think that's a fair measurement. The bottom of the flares may not be the same distance from the ground even when the cab is exactly level. Looks fine to me in the pics.

 

Just my opinion, but I think it looks good as is. I'd leave it.

 

Yes it is 1" block and TSB springs, and I also voted that you get the All Pro bumper, I posted an instruction/installation thread and there's good info about getting the fitment right too. Thanks again for your feedback.

I completely agree but it works well for before and after measurements and some sort of consistent personal reference point, I'd say that they'll only work for your truck due to the spec differences that you mention. Thanks!

I agree. You have to measure either the side steps or the body crease in the doors to get a sense of the level. It does however look like a good stance from your pictures.
