My truck currently has 160k miles on it and I am thinking if I need to change my coolant or not. I don't know if it got done when Toyota did the timing belt at 148k miles when the previous owner had it. Here is a pic of the coolant, what do you guys think?

Do you know if thay did the water pump at the same time? If thay did not. Thay may have not drained your coolent. From the pics, It looks like it needs to be changed. Toyota will tell you to change it when it gets that rusty color. I would change it. Check your hoses also. If your hoses need to be changed, I would change your T-State also. Just my $0.02 :D

    A lot of stuff.
Maybe it's my monitor that needs adjustment, but that DOESN"t look green to me.. but, St. Patricks day is over, maybe I need to adjust my monitor again.

    this...

unless green coolant was put in it...the color is normal besides the sediment and other floaters you see in it.

If the water pump wasn't done...do it. If it was, just drain and flush your system and refill.

x2 flush the system, block and all and refill with toyota long life antifreeze. That should do the trick.

When I had my '99 PreRunner, green coolant was used. "Newer" Toyotas used either the pink or red coolant.

Good time to change your hoses and thermostat as well. I do coolant (toyota long life) + hoses + thermostat every 40K. Earlier then needed but I would rather do it in my drive way instead of the highway.

I just bought a 98 tacoma. I've haven't had much time to really look at it. I don't rally know what I'm looking at but coolent flush and check hoses is something I want to do. Radiator and heat core hoses. I don't want to do it we're I live at the moment but I have a friend that might help me. I really don't want to take it to a mechanic. I rather just figure stuff out.
