Selling a car with recent fix a ticket

Guys,

I have owned and sold many cars, but I have a question for you all. On 2/26, the local sheriff (L.A. County) gave me a fix a ticket for a broken light bulb. I corrected the issue and went to the local police station and have it verified. Cop signed and stamped the ticket.

I have not gone to the court (sheriff assigned place) to pay the fees and show proof of the correction since its not "in the system" yet .

Anyways, I just sold my car this past weekend. I shouldn't have any issue in the future, etc? Btw, the ticket specifies I need to see the court by end of April. I tried calling the office all day but dam line was busy.

 

Fix it tickets are exactly that, you fixed it, brought it into authority's and they signed off on that. I am confused that you have a court date. Here in Alaska if you already took care of it then your done granted you didn't do anything else to warrant a court appearance.

 

In Calif., they give you a court date in which you can protest the ticket. If you don't want to, you have to pay the fee & take care of the fault by the date.

The local police verified it already, but I still have to submit the fee and proof of the officer that verified the car to the court.

 

This is California.

Even if you succeed in contesting the ticket, it'll still cost you $35 for court processing.

The cop may also mark a ticket "Noncorrectable" in which case you have to fix it AND it's a no-points non-moving violation. Fine could be a couple or five hundred bucks. CHP has been hammering people hard on window tint and flagging it "noncorrectable" because it's something the owner intentionally did as opposed to a light that perhaps actually DID just burn out.

Blue LEDs are another favorite target for them.

 

In my case, i should be fine? Already sold the car. I have the local cop verified it & stamped the correction. Need to submit to the court when its in their system.

 

This sounds like one of those situations where common sense should dictate a positive outcome for you in a California court.

In other words, you are probably going to jail.
