I toss an old blanket across the back seat and don't worry about it. Also I never put my dog in the bed. Mine hates water, but if she was one to get wet or muddy I guess I'd put a crate in the bed for her. Really the safest way to take your dog with you is in the cab.

Also I got her a doggy seatbelt. It's just a harness with a loop on it to hook the regular seatbelt through. She stays in whatever seat I put her in, but if I was in an accident I'd want her in a seatbelt. :)

    of course
The safeest place for your dog is the back seat in a crate. Just think of hwat can happen to a dog in the bed if you are in an accident. I just could not live with myself if my dog was dead because I was worried about my seats getting dirty, maybe that is just me though.

A small handful of select mods.
I have 2 German Shepherds and they ride in the back seat. I invested in a seat cover for dogs that attach to the seat. Kind of a nylon material that washes easy. I just unhook it and toss it in the washer when needed.

I bought the Kurgo Dog Hammock. I like it, it's durable and water resistant. I put my dogs bed and blankets on top of the dog hammock and they don't seem uncomfortable at all. Also, my dogs are small and sometimes if I hit the brakes to hard they would fall off the backseat onto the floor, but the hammock prevents this. None of these pics are in the Taco, but you can get the idea. The carry bag has a really cheap zipper which broke on me, but I do like the dog hammock.

First off I'd like to say, damn all you 2gen owners and your folding back seats. The way the 1gen dc seats fold is just dumb.

Anyways, I just put a thicker blanket in my back seat and have it tucked behind them on top to hold it.

My boxer pretends shes going to drive, until Im about to open the door then scoots back to the back seat.

I use to fold seats down in my 2dr integra and she had the whole hatch but would stand most of the time. Then I got my truck and found out she was much happier being in the actual seat and she will either lay, sit like a person and look out the window, or lay in the back seat with her paws and head on the center console(has a Wet OK cover, def recommend). I put my 8" sub between back seat and center console so she doesnt have to lay across a gap. I cant find any pics but she also likes to sit in the center and rest her chin on the back of the seat and look out the slider when its open.

She does suffer from a little seperation anxiety so the bed hasnt been an option. Me and my girl were in OC and had the truck backed up to the main strip to watch the cars from the tailgate and had the dog in the bed with us. It started to sprinkle so she got off tailgate same time I did and I went to get a jacket from back seat and my pooch dove through the back slider window cuz she thought we were going to leave her back there. Shes 4 now tho so Im hoping theres a better chance of putting her back there on nice days taking short trips.

Her seat, till the wife rides with me in the truck, then she occupies the whole back seat. Gotta love having Wet Okoles Seat covers, they are awesome!

I just built something like this for my dog, but mine only cover have the seat (made from scrap wood and a couple of old towels). She is only 6 months old and is still figuring out if she likes the front or rear seat better. But when I have both my kids in the truck, she has to learn to stay in that spot.

I'll post pics when I get home.

Now, to figure out where my wife gets to sit......

In case of robbery you can open the console and the dog can jump out and bite the assailant's face!:)

I use the Kurgo Dog Hammock like posted above. I have a Husky which sheds and this thing saves me from that mess and water/mud.

Also, around the lake campground or casual scenic mountain rides, I'll let her ride in the back using the Kurgo K9 Truck Tether which she loves.

    Hey All,

    If I didn't have an aversion to breathing in dog hair or lol having my amps and such PLAYED with I would go with the harness to keep the dog in the back bed or seat in case of an accident along with a commercial or custom waterproof protector for the folded down seats or rubber mat for bed. Though I would ensure you cover your front seats and head rests lol dog slobber is second only to super glue lol. This is how I transport normally though, I also have double wire crates for two dogs when I need to. Both of them get along though well mostly:} one works for his dog food the other chases balls for his :}

I have a waterproof dog seat cover that covers the whole back seat of my double cab, got it off of Amazon for around 20 bucks, works great, keeps the seats free of hair, mud, water or whatever else she brings in.

Loves to go for a ride...
