I have the top spacer but never installed it. Let me know how it works out. I'm gonna have a shop install the top plate soon. My truck is lower in the front and I want it leveled with the rear.

I've got a quick question for the guys who installed the UCA's... How tight should the ball joint be? I bought a used set and the bolt that goes to the spindles is very hard to move and I wasn't sure if it should be that hard or not (I know I shouldn't have play in the joint but I didn't know how hard it should be to just move). I can barely move the bolt if I put the UCA's on the floor and put a lot of my weight on the bolt. Should they be that hard to move?

No, not those bolts, the threaded end of the ball joint that will eventually get attached to the spindle (the lower end of the ball joint below the boot). It's very hard to just move around and I'm wondering if grit or something had gotten in there. I know it's not supposed to move freely and loose, but the set I got seem very hard to move.

If you were to grab where that cotter pin goes through the bolt, how easily should that bolt move around (just to physically push back and forth)?

Oh I miss read the first post . You should be able to move it with minimal effort . Do those have a zerk fitting ? I don't remember . If they do I'd put some grease in there . They might be dried out or have dirt or debri in there

Thanks John. That's what I was afraid of... No zerk fitting, might have to press the ball out and see if there is any pitting or rusting going on in there.

Do you know where the UCAs came from? I know some of the balls have problems with salt and sand from the northern states.

Yeah. I can't hold the UCA in one hand and move the bolt in another. I had to put them on the floor, stand on the UCA and push it with my hand on the bolt to get it to move. It took quite a bit of pressure. I'm hoping they were just sitting for a while and some of that teflon lube will free it up. I don't want to buy new ball joints!

I bought them from a guy in CO but he bought them used with a set of coilovers from somewhere else. I think Montana if I'm remembering correctly. Supposedly they have around 20k miles on them but the guy I bought them from never installed them, they came as a package deal with the C/O's.

I'll pull them apart, remove the boots, etc and see if I can get a look at the ball joint. They just showed up yesterday so I haven't been able to mess with them too much yet.

Is the nut on the top tight ? It wasn't tight when I installed Miguel's until we lowered the truck on the wheels . I'm not sure how that balljoint works . I have the uni ball but for shits and giggles loosen that nut and see if the joint becomes easier to move .

I'll give that a shot. That connection could get tightened up by that nut, I hadn't thought of that. I'll post up tomorrow if that works or not!

I also didn't have time to mess with them because my fiance doesn't know I bought them so they're in a closet, still in the USPS box they came in

I was talking about Mike hiding the uca's in the closet and not telling his fiance. I find it funny but I can also understand. LOL
