It is about the rear locker and answers all the false stuff posted about A-TRAC above, in this thread... I also would like you to stop 'monkey-ing' with the facts that I have posted... Let's get along and have some fun with our trucks, okay?

Great. Example going through a water crossing like that...I think there are a few on here who have destroyed motors in the 2nd tacos doing the same exact thing.

Can you watch the entire 4+ minutes and not focus on just the first 20 seconds?

Id like to ask this again..what facts exactly..

That video has validated everything I have said in the past about ATRAC...it works great for terrain up to mild in difficulty that the average tacoma owner will encounter on the trail. Have I ever said otherwise? No I have not.

    Have a great day!

The fact that A-TRAC is nearly as efficient as lockers for climbing up and over difficult terrain (not the same, but nearly)... and the video confirms my findings that in one area the A-TRAC is superior to lockers (steering ability).

Not to :stirthepot: any more but none on that terrain looks very "difficult" to me.... looks like a few washouts on a forest road. And the beauty of selectible lockers...is you can turn them off. A-TRAC is a nice gimic, but it is no substitute for a true locking differential. In any scenario where A-TRAC would be used I can promise you 2 Lockers will do the same thing, however there are countless scenarios I can think of where ATRAC would be worthless and lockers irreplaceable. :2cents:

Yup-Nothing I saw there would make me think twice. Might not be as pretty as a locked/ATRACd truck...but I'd do it.

"Nearly" is like saying I almost won the race..almost

And until you have driving a front locked vehicle what you are saying is inly opinion..and before you go saying that I have never driving with ATRAC ill say this..I have been on the trail with more ATRAC equipped tacos and FJ's then you ever have..and more times then none..after we convince the driver to disable the system they make over the obstacle that they were struggling to get up in the first place ..

In the past I offered to meet up somewhere on any trail to demonstrate each system and their effectiveness ..you have always declined that offer..too bad

Have to agree with Oz here.

A couple of you guys should strongly consider putting a few members into your "ignore" list.

Really, what do you hope to gain? Change the other guy's opinion? Seriously??

Save the Internet against Misinformation? Not enough minutes in the day...

Clutter up every thread that might talk about A*C or L*g D*s with bickering? Yep, TW's got that one covered.

    This...

I have yet to be stopped going someplace a locked Tacoma with A-trac has made it in my LSD/open. It's not always as pretty and I have to pick different lines so my pass front/driver rear have traction, but in the end I am at the top with them.

I have also seen in person a LSD/open Sport climb a hill a Offroad locked A-trac equipped truck with crawl box failed at. Sport hit it with some speed and Crawler refused to...so I'm sure he could of made it with a little more skinny petal.

So back on topic...I have yet to have locker save me, but I have saved a good deal of locked trucks if that counts..these are a few of the ones from this winter.

If I had the money I would install a locker in a heartbeat, but the LSD/open is very capable driven correctly...for that matter I have seen a open/open stock Tundra do amazing things with a good driver behind the wheel that locked truck had issues with.

@DavidK If you are so entirely convinced at the effectiveness of A-TRAC vs Dual lockers why not Take Tom up on this offer?
