Driveshaft shop?

Good evening guys.

This driveline vibration at freeway speeds is driving me insane.
I've done some searching and have come to the conclusion I want a new one piece. Any one here recommend a local (Phoenix/East valley preferred) driveshaft shop that can make one right?

I've got about a 3" lift on the truck (05+) and I've had the alignment rechecked as well as balancing of the tires. Also had the carrier bearing OME drop installed to no effect. Frustrating to say the least.

I ended up going to Sierra Expeditions to have my 3 U-Joints and Carrier Bearing replaced...cost me a little under 400 and that included everything...hell of a deal IMO

I shoulda went with a Tom Woods 1 piece...but didn't know any better at the time

When these u-joints take a shit (which will be in about another 60k miles) I'll go with a 1 piece for sure. Good luck bud, hope it all works out

I'll be giving them a call.
My truck only has 7000 miles and I want it to be right from the start.
Been doing a lot of reading and my conclusion is that these lifted trucks don't like the angles, especially the way these two piece set ups are.

 

blocks? new leaf pack? AAL? honestly you shouldnt have any issues with a properly set up kit and it would probably be smarter and cheaper to just do it right than adjust your driveshaft

A user on here actually says he corrected his issues using a first gen drive shaft...

 

ICON coil overs in the front and OME leaf packs/shocks in rear.
Stock UCA's. Running 255 85 KM2s with steelies from Wheelers.

Anyone on here NOT having issues with a similar set up? I'm getting harmonic shakes at 65-75 mph. I've tried messing with tire pressures as well with no luck.

I have Icons up front and the OME Dakars in the rear, have a leaf removed right now tho. Sounds like basically same setup as yours. I have the OME carrier drop kit and it is as perfect as it was stock, no vibration at any speed. Little over 5k on the ticker now

 

Steelies? Probably a wheel balancing issue more than anything. KM2's will bounce a bit since they're knobby too, mine do a bit but not bad for an MT. With my Fox's and AllPro Expo pack I don't (well didn't) get those kind of vibrations until recently after I rotated the tires... mine are all chunked up though and near end of life.


I had work done at AZ Driveshaft... top notch absolutely... I'll go back there for sure for anything I ever need (including a custom built drive shaft I'll need for my 280Z in the future). It's legit work.

Also, one piece driveshaft = bad idea if you wheel. Less clearance... and I already shredded mine like it went through a lathe with the two piece clearance.

I'm going to tackle the wheel balancing one last time before hitting up AZ Driveshaft.
I'll update the thread accordingly. ESPECIALLY if I get rid of the vibes.

 

UPDATE

I made several calls looking for a tire shop that had a road force balancer.
Many listed as having them didn't or had them inoperable.

I found one and got all four tires/wheels road forced.
They came to the conclusion that three of the four steel wheels had weight balancing issues from being slightly out of round. they did the best they could and I test drove it on the freeway up to the speeds I was having issues at. The vibrations are CONSIDERABLY less than before and I attribute any remaining issues to the three steel wheels mentioned above.

Only time will tell if the vibrations stay at current levels and whether I can live with it. Otherwise I'll need to look at alloy wheels that are truer that steelies.

Glad you got some results man, there's plenty of alloys that are (relatively) cheap that will serve you well if/when you decide to switch.
