I know we just got a ton of snow north of Phx and I have my kids this weekend. So the question is do you guys know of any good spots to go to for them to play around? I am not lifted nor 4x4.... Something not to far just like a day trip or half day trip for them.

    Thanks in advance.

I go to school up at NAU and I can tell you the road coming up here is fine. Everywhere in Flagstaff has easily 30 in of fresh snow so anywhere up here will be good to take them

It doesn't hurt to ask someone in town. I'm just up here for school so I don't know all the little spots yet .

They have a sledding/snow play area just down the road to the snowbowl turn off!

It's going to be busy but worth it! You should be able to find a cheap hotel for the night! Anything away from the train trax is ideal! :annoyed:

definitely stay away from the train tracks...stayed 2 nights in flagstaff at a motel right across the street from them...VERY bad idea if you value sleep.

Sedona also received a good amount of snow, Red Rocks and Slide Rock State Parks would be nice areas.
In the Prescott area, Lynx Lake.
The Strawberry/Pine and Clint Wells areas just north of Payson on SR 87, you can also cut back on SR 260 which will take you to Camp Verde and connect back to Phoenix on I-17...make a great circle trip through various terrain.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah, even the snow in the Prescott Area and the Bradshaw Mtns is melting fast too...and with temp expected to be near 70 by Friday in both Prescott and Payson might have to stick to Flagstaff Area and the White Mtns for any snow.

Just a heads up OP most of the snow is off the ground around campus. It's been warm here the past few days and that has melted nearly all the snow. Might not be worth it to spend the money to come up

    Thanks for the heads up.

I was thinking about it yesterday with how hot it was down here and was going to give a 50/50 chance if we go but now I guess we will find something else to do.

That rec area by snowbowl is perfect for sledding, but it costs between 5-15 bucks per vehicle. Prescott has some good spots too. For free. Off senators hwy. Thumb butte. Etc.
