Well yeah I knew it was paint, just didn't know what to use to prime it. I'm thinking self etching duplicolor primer, I've heard good things. I wasn't going to clear coat it.

oh sorry i miss read about the cleaning haha

just some rubbing alcohol and a clean rag should do the trick for that.

and go for it man. Either that primer or Rusoleums primer.

Yeah that sounds about right. So the sliders I have are bolt on (I think), but I'm assuming if I want to have them welded on, they can do that, right?

huh..looking at the pic..i guess there were..

well do the holes line up? nothing wrong with just bolting them on if the holes work. Some actually say its stronger.

but..i don't see why you couldn't just weld them on.

I haven't even put them up to my truck yet, I'll try to do that today. I was just assuming from the holes that they are bolt-on :notsure:, so we'll see. I'm assuming to use grade 8 bolts if they are bolt-on?

    Yep those should work.

and something tells me that they wont line up..haha but you can always have holes drilled and then sleeves welded in..but at that point id just want em on and have em welded strait on.

Yeah I don't want to have to drill my frame at all. I'll just make an appt to have Scotty at Addicted Offroad weld them on for me when I'm down there one afternoon.

Haha yeah I've never touched a welder in my life. I'd love to learn, but don't really have the time or resources.

I don't think you have to do much of any prep. They seemed clean and sandblasted so whatever you finish it with should hold up pretty good, it was nice to see considering mine weren't sandblasted.

I don't think Trail-Gear mentioned anything on their site about the sliders being bolt on :)confused:)... welding is surely a better option anyway.

Ah ok well I thought that you told me that they were bolt on, maybe I'm just losing my mind...

But I got them primed with some rusoleum primer, and picked up some cans of Rustoleum hammered black. Should look good! Thanks again man.

Thanks man. I'm trying to figure out how to mount a hi-lift, lights and cb antennae in the bed with my toolbox. Should be interesting.
