I meant 235s weigh same as stock size being 245s in the same load range.

i want E load range. And the 245/75 and 235/85s in an E load range are within a pound of each other. I want E load range for toughness my stck sidewalls took a couple nasty hits i dont think they can handle more. E load range are usually 7-10ply and are super tough.

 

im looking at bfg km2s neither 265/75 or 265/75 or even 245/75 for that matter come in anything but e load range. 245s and 235s weigh 49lbs. the 265/75 weighs 53lbs.

Stock 245/75/16 SL weighing 36lbs.

 

So wait, you have NOT found anything that weighs the same as stock in 235/85? That is the same as me, however the bridgstone dueller revo II's are only 44 lbs in load range e

 

No i havent. I just hope i can still get 20mpg. i have a magnaflow exhaust and am going to do the 2ndary filter removal and a high quality afe or k&n drop in

 

KM2s look like some sweet tires. I might purchase KM2s for my next set of tires. In about another 40-50k.

 

Ok we are on the same page then! Honestly removing secondary air filter, adding an AFE and adding headers netted me maybe 1 mpg tops.

 

well without the secondary removed and just the magnaflow i gained 1mpg. I went offroading for 4 hours the other day and the gas gauge didnt move, would have toasted a quarter tank in my chevy. I dont think 1" taller tire will hurt mileage that much just hope it wont kill the power.

 

My 2.7 gets 22mpg but it depends on traffic. If I get caught in stop and go traffic it can be 20-21mpg. Normal speed for me is about 68mph.

 

I just purchased my first Tacoma..2004 4x4 Extra Cab 2.7 liter, manual trans. 86,000 miles, I'm very happy with the power the 2.7 puts out. At what mileage does the timing chain need adjusted?

 

I am getting 21mpg with 87octane mixed driving

 

I have a 2012 2.7l with 400 ish miles on it. I haven't done a full fill up yet to do the real math but judging by the half tank mark I was getting 17 mpg and was getting a little pissed I wasn't getting closer to the 22 ish I was expecting. After reading reading some posts about the engine needing to have time to break in to get full results I feel somewhat better.

I was wondering if someone could chime in on the break in period and why it affects mpg. This is my first "new" car so it's news to me. Thanks!

 

You should also wait to run a full tank through it before you get worried about the fuel economy. The larger the sample size (more miles) the more accurate your average will be.

 

A tank that is reading exactly 1/2 full in my truck means I have used ten gallons since filled up. (pretty accurate BTW) How many miles were showing at that point makes for easy math. I use it as a mid tank reference on how the tank is likely to turn out. YMMV

your right about the break in period though. my first tank was 19 MPG, second was around the same. the mileage then creeped up from there and never went below 20 MPG. and I do maybe around 80% city driving.

 

2012 Tacoma extended cab SR5 package 4x4 with 2.7L engine 5-speed manual. Purchased new last week of November 2011 and currently 4500 miles. I've been running hwy an city since owning. Best mpg so far was yesterday of 20.6mpg. This was combination of 225 hwy miles and the rest city. City average driving is 17-19mpg. Hopefully this will improve once the miles start stacking up and weather turns nice. Love my truck though!

 

I've got about 6500 miles on mine. 90% of my driving is around town. During the summer months I averaged 19.5 MPG, the last month or so with warmups and winter gas it's been around 15.

I haven't done enough interstate driving with it yet to tell what highway MPGs might average.

ETA - 2011 Access Cab, I4, Auto, 4x4 - had it and have been tracking mileage since May 2011.

 

Well I'm gonna do my first fill up today and will probably sign up for the fuelly tracking sight to keep track of my mileage. I'll let y'all know the verdict.

Its crazy how warm/cold weather can affect the MPG

 

I have a 1992 Toyota pickup, 4cyl 22RE 190,000mi and I get 23 city and 26-27 highway on a consistant basis.

I had an 86 4Runner with the 22RE. Usually got around 24-25mpg which was super nice. But man was it slow on the hills. Dangerous even, especially on the high mountain passes out here.

 

I'm only getting 240 to the tank?? Only mods are deck plate and 31" all terrains. I also have 190k miles. Does that seem right?
