i was going to try the nimh charge thing to bring my shorted lipo back, but the charger i have knows it is a lipo and won't even force a nimh charge on it.

i have a protek 65 charger

 

I have revived my m11x lipo twice. I was a dumbass and left it on when I put it away.

Try to charge it at NO MORE than .5 amps nimh for thirty seconds. Then see if you can lipo charge it. Repeat if necessary.

Has worked both times and still works to this day. I have a note in my radio box now so I hopefully won't do it again.

 

Yeah, I know it can be done. Do you have a older "dumb" charger? Just like DJump said, be sure to turn amps down pretty low.

 

I've drained a couple of my lipos pretty bad sometimes too and the easiest thing to do is get a simple wall lipo charger. Bring the voltage up a bit then throw it on the better charger. Works great for me.

 

I just saw that you have a protek. I bought one from amainhobbies. A pile of junk, waste of $100. They even said they were having problems with them when I called about it. Couldn't exchange for another model so I burned it. Lol. Was the blue and white model with a fan on the front, garbage.

 

can't, it will not charge the battery in nimh mode. gives the same error it did in lipo mode.

i have an old novak digi-peak plus

 

I remember those, but can't remember if they have adjustable current. Try it, for a minute or so. What does your other charger say, when the error comes up?

 

What about a old wall charger (for what ever) you could sacifice?

 

Greg it does come with the cage. It is the stock body from the truck I just picked up but I don't need 4 Honcho bodies. Someone locally here might want to pick it up. He has offered me $40 for it but I not sure I can end the ebay listing with a bid already in.

 

On my thunder AC6 I can charge up to 6S lipo at 0.1A I assume that would be good for reviving a lipo, eh?

 

Don't think so, in li-po mode a charger "looks" for certain voltage parameters. If it (voltage) don't fall into that range, most computerized chargers simply won't begin the process.

 

All this software for li-pos is the result of fires that were common in the beginning. It's all safety features.

 

Exactly. Sock. Do it on lowest setting possible for no more than thirty seconds, period. Any longer will get it hot or possibly damage cells. Shorter time the better. If not the first time try again. Short periods only.

 

I forgot. Make sure you do it outside or in a lipo bag. Not inside obviously.

Sounds like they are trying to revive a dead lipo battery.
