In the upper right corner should be a jbl insignia (above the right knob)

X2 the jbls in toyotas are garbage

I've heard better bass with non jbl tacos than with "cracking" music coming from the jbl

To the OP...it should say at the top of the radio and on the speakers

I'd have to go against the statement....we had a sequoia with jbl...with the bass low and music not so high sounded like crap, I've heard a couple of tacomas and they sound the same :notsure: idk but I wouldn't want jbl in my car...

    This ^^

It's not bad, but it's certainly not what Toyota or JBL makes it out to be. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the first radio ever made and 10 being falling to the ground in a fetal position and crying because it's so beautiful, it's a weak 5...make that a 4.

I have JBL and for a stock system, I can see most people being very happy with it. I've had a few people who aren't audio people say how good it sounds and they get shocked when I say it sounds like crap.

Personally, I can't wait to get mine out of my truck and move up to some new stuff.

Don't get me wrong, JBL is alright for stock, but you gotta replace the subwoofer right off the bat. Its pointless. Another simple upgrade is just getting rid of the stock head unit, that was a ten fold upgrade that I was pretty happy with.

I heard someones 'stock' non-jbl system next to my JBL system and I couldn't hear a difference. Both we equally as loud and put out the same bass.

For stock, it sounds pretty good, but nothing like a customized system. It lacks in bass, and has only basic leveling controls. It'll get interesting once I switch out these things!

I think my JBL system sounds damn good, and I am one that in my younger days had some pretty serious aftermarket systems. I just don't see the need to rattle or set off car alarms next to me. I mean turning it up and listening outside the truck it's not great, but inside it's fine. It's not worth spending a grand or more on to me anymore. I do worry about how long it will last though. I'm just guessing but probably the ones saying it sucks are pretty young?
