Here it is... the hooptie. With all the bad weather that comes in the summer, I just couldnt stand the thought of my Taco ending up like this

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/207789-hail-damage.html

So I bought this from my pops for $800 to drive back and forth to work. A/c and everything still works. The Taco stays in the garage now. Seems like it hailed at least twice a week in Charlotte last year, so I dont wanna take any chances. Anyone else use another vehicle during the week. Show us your hoopti

Fog lights, back-up camera, TRD cat-back exhaust, towing package, int. wiper stalk, Weathertech floor liners, color-matched the front bumper and grille, TSB leaf packs, Front Bilstein 5100's at 0", Eibach/Toytec coils (approx 1.25" front lift - sits almost level), rear Bilstein 5100's.
Nice! I need a hooptie too.

Hopefully I can find some little roller-skate of a car that gets 25+ mpgs. Just for back and forth to work, like you're doing. Not too much hail up here, but gas is crazy and people here drive like crap. My old Taco got rear-ended twice during rush hour; hoping to avoid that with the new one.

Knowing my luck though, it'll just wait and happen when I take the taco out for a hike on the weekend.

This thing gets pretty good fuel mileage, about 22, but I only have a 10 mile commute each day.

haha, must be a southern thing.

No one up north buys a junker for the summer. We buy them for the winter and drive the crap outta our real cars from june to September.

I would hate driving a junker while my beautiful, almost new Tacoma just sat there unused. If that means the Tacoma gets miles put on and "abused" from time to time, so be it. But whatever floats your boat.

But damn, it's a Tacoma, not a Bugatti! Maybe relatively speaking, it is to you. But to me, I buy em to drive em. If they get destroyed, they make more. If it's damaged, it gets fixed. Where's the fun in parking it and driving a beater like that?! I have a buddy who's two family cars got assaulted by those softballs last year. He has a nice Mini Cooper that looked like a golf ball. Insurance fixed it up. New glass and not a ding to be found.

    Just sayin.

I just don't like having something like that on a carfax, hurts resale value and insurance goes up. And yes, it is a Bugatti to me. I'm too anal about my vehicles, this truck will never see the trails, I just bought it for versatility, wanted another pickup, and its the best looking and most dependable in its class.
