This thread reminds me that I haven't gone to the local PickNPay to see if they have any nice '02's since I got my truck. I'm with everyone here saying it's worth a try.

Damn, those things are a little $pendy. I guess I'll keep shopping around. However, there's a guy in Vancouver WA that makes great front bumpers (reasonably priced and local-ish) and he's going to give me a quote on one similar to this.
Thanks for the info, it really helped me.

Easy couple thousand from a "proper" body shop.

Hit up a junk yard or watch forums for used bumper. Shit I have two, one black and one chrome just sitting in my backyard.

As for the bedside, get down to bare metal, and pull and bondo and paint. Or cut out that section, replace from a junkyard piece and weld in, bondo, and paint.

Eitherway its going to need a lot of work, or a lot of money. You sound like your more capable of spending money then doing it yourself.

At least fix your bumper on your own. Beat it with a hammer until it looks normal. Your tailgate won't open all the way if the bumper isn't laying flat. I got rear ended and rather than buying anything I fixed it with a hammer and a winch.

Going to be expensive. As previously said, take it to multiple shops to have an estimate done. I'd also take good pictured all around and under just for your records.

Call some of the Toyota dealers there. Probably none have their own body shops anymore, but you can at least find where they take vehicles they have to have repaired.

Tail gate repair, repaint, new emblems. Doubt they would be talking replacement, but who knows maybe depending on the shop.

Corner of the bed has a plate behind it most likely so will have to be pulled from the front. Paint will probably be the whole bed side and depending on shop, may include painting the wheel arch to match. New emblem again for that side.

Factory chrome bumpers I've found to be weak. At least my experience with them. Bought our truck with a mangled up chrome factory bumper on it. Replaced it with a new one. Parked it at Sams and came out to find someone had bent the bumper for me as seems common practice here to keep going into the ajoining space until you hit the other car and then MAYBE back up a few inches so you know you are in the space.

Anyway, they bend easy on the corners. The middle seems fairly stout as it is braced to the frame more directly. Most likely a bumper replacement with brackets will do the trick there.

Putting a huge guess on, if I had to pull a number out of the air, I'd say $1800 to $2500. Not in the body shop or estimation business, but just going off repairs I've had done.

Depending on coverage you have the company may require any replacment parts to be rebuilt/reman ones where available. If you actually want your coverage to deal with it (with possible increase in premium due to claim......no comment on your or your business of how to get it repaired, but something to think about) then give them a call and get the list of their approved shops. You still have to watch even some of the reputable/recommended repair places though, as they may slip cheaper quality aftermarket parts on and claim to your coverage that a reman was not available and they had to go factory.

    Been there done that.

Once you get estimates post them here as would be interesting to see what the costs come out to be.

    Cheers
