Another new engine thread? If theres any reliability to the report that a redesign is "many years away" thats rather troubling. Theyre going to turn the Taco into the Ranger that ends up the same forever. I guess they are okay being the sales leader by default just because the competition sucks.

My thoughts exactly. Unibody & FWD??? Ugh.....

How can you have a new engine and not a redesign?

Maybe they think the Ridgeline needs some competition. As long as the Tacoma stays an actual truck i could care less what they do with a Scion truck.

Yeah, Workman does not believe a lot of the things He reads online. He just posted this because He wanted to read others opinions and comments. Also it seemed appropriate to :stirthepot: about new engines.

If its online, its probably not true 95% of the time:cool:.....unless its on TW!

Wow! How did you know that Workman is from Idaho? Or is that just a freakishly odd coincidence?

Book it, my friend. There *will* be a direct injection engine coming out very soon, and there's a 90% likelihood that the Tacoma will not be redesigned until 2018.

Toyota is looking at the price point of the Tacoma very closely...if they redesign it any sooner than 2016, the development costs will push the MSRP up into Tundra territory. 2018 is better still.

Incidentally, I've broken some real news on TundraHeadquarters.com (TacomaHQ's sister site) in the past. We've been sourced by PickupTrucks.com, Edmunds, USA Today, etc. on the Tundra frame rust story, so if you doubt our street cred, check us out.

My sources aren't too bad. :)
