And I'm talking about a self install, not a stealership install.

It is 12 months or 12 thousand miles regardless of who installs it ONLY if you do not have an existing warranty. I personally say F the warranty. It's not worth it to me to have a bunch of high school drop out technicians touch my truck, but you must not be good with your hands. Maybe instead of talking trash on the Internet like a big boy, you should pick up a wrench and learn something new.

Stupid question, what does hood brackets have to do with the supercharger install?

Part of the fit kit...until the brackets are done the fit kit will not be complete so you will not have access to purchase the fit kit...and the fit kit contains access to the reflash.

Sounds like another in the long line of BS excuses (C.A.R.B. regulations, Emissions Labels, and now Hood Brackets). Nonetheless, Commanderwiggin, appreciate you staying on top of it.

Why is everyone so worried about a warranty? How many problems related to TRD superchargers have you heard of?

    ^^

Unless you beat the hell out of it or it is defective from the factory. The warranty probably won't be needed. I plan to keep my truck for around 200k miles and I'm not too concerned about warranty.

I understand the fit kit but it's hard to imagine what modification would have to be done to the hood hinges for this install, they seem so unrelated.
Almost as silly as replacing the muffler bearing.;)

Not really, check the installation manual on the supercharger, the intercooler pump attaches to the hood support bracket. Seeing as how some of the front end components have changed on the 2012's this may have been modified from previous years. (Doubtful imo but regardless part of the kit...a part that needs to be in there for Toyota to release the kit)

Just bought the main assembly. Waiting in the fit kit now. Since its going to be a brand new par, there probably won't be any stealerships offering a discounted fit kit for 12's?

Fit kits are cheap in comparison to the main assembly :)

3900 for the main unit and like 350 for the fit kit :)

That is IF a fit kit is ever released for the 2012, which is becoming more doubtful day by day. Otherwise, you have a $3900.00 boat anchor.

There was a brand new main kit on eBay. The seller didn't have it listed under Tacoma supercharger but under "TRD Supercharger 4.0L Main Kit - Brand New In box
PTR29-35090" instead. I was bidding on one that had started out at $2500 and completely forgot about the auction end time and bidding again. Lost out on that one. My smart ass girlfriend said if I was meant to have it then I would have remembered to bid again : \ So I hit the more like this button and this one popped up. Lol told her I was meant to have that one and bought it. Hopefully it's not too good to be true.

I work for a Toyota dealer so I have access to check inventory in the Southeast Toyota warehouse in Jacksonville. I check the part numbers listed in a previous post for the main assembly and the fit kit daily. They are good part numbers. As of Friday, 3/30, there was only 1 main kit and still no fit kits available. The quest continues ...

if you Google the fit kit part number PTR29-35120 there are a few Toyota dealer sites that show it as the 2012 fit kit and allow you to order it.
