I'm still amazed at the poor customer service produced by Toyota, I am happy and lucky that I have gotten the TSB done at my dealer without any hassle. But am very shocked that this damn sticker business and refusal to assist other owners exist.

The 09's have been out for over 6 months, how could they not have updated the damn TSB by now to include the "early" run of 3 leaf packs???

I think I will put a 500lb Pallet in the bed and go there! They will see the springs almost on the stops.

i called Toyota Monday 3/16 the guy i spoke said gave me a case number and said i would be contacted by a support liaison within a couple of days .

So i called this morning and spoke to another customer rep who told me that my prerunner is a sport vehicle not a work truck. To which i replied with out boiling over ,i kindly pointed out the truck i paid for, is rated for a payload of 1415 pounds that i almost 3/4 of a ton .How is the truck is bottoming out with 550 pounds in the back as well as not cornering correctly , I have had the truck less than a week it has 278 mi on it i do not want to damage my truck but need to work .Then she got all queit and told me that the liason will call you tomarrow and explain why that is , so i guesse i am getting ready to get hosed . I will not let this die i can assure you,

this is a BS slight of hand move by toyota - much like someone pissing on you and calling it rain. I will keep all of you posted .

lol... That was kinda my dealer service manager's explanation of it. They put softer springs in because people weren't really using their Tacomas like trucks. He even said he had people complain about the stiff ride after the springs, and wanted me to know that I'd have to pay to reverse it... I told him I wanted a damn truck, and I wanted it to handle like one!

I had my TSB done at Gladstone toyota just outside of portland or. The one call to toyota customer service after one round with the dealer is all it took. I just stressed that when i hit a bump with 400 lbs in it that it handled poorly.

The backend of my 2009 acc cab is squeaking and i took it to the dealer and they couldnt hear it.
im going back tonight to show them.
my leaf springs part numbers match with the 2008 tsb.
Im hoping they will acknowledge this and replace with the new leaf springs.
    Wish me Luck!

Don't just say it's squeaking, say you were working on your house, loaded up your bed to the max with trash and it was so mushy you thought you were going to die driving to the dump. Seriously the way dealers and Toyota are about the replacement, a squeaky complaint won't get you very far, stress safety when you're speaking of your concerns. Add that you had your wife or kids with you and you were scared shipless that you were going to crash your brand new truck!

I actually did that. My truck was like 2 days old and loaded it up with stuff for the dump as I had just moved...the thing drove like crap and was quite seriously unsafe. Didn't get me too far with either Toyota or the dealer. ...still working at getting the springs replaced.

Damn, and you have a long bed, go back to that dealer and tell em you work construction either full time or part time and that's why you bought the freakin long bed. Ask to speak to the service manager and log your complaint, don't take no for an answer. If they still don't budge, tell em to get 500-600#'s and load up your bed and take them on a test ride. That *should* do the trick, if not, keep pushing, there is no way Toyota should be allowing unsafe trucks on the road, just bullship!

My next step is to go back with a yard of mulch in the back. They agreed to that so they can "evaluate it." That will take place next week sometime.

Add some bricks or bags of sand/pebbel stones from Homie Depot (easily repayable) too, these dealers man... Killing me!!!

Thanks. im not good at being dis honest though.
I am trying to be calm with them at first, but i bought this truck to haul a motorcycle, and for winter travel. i assume they will say no, at first, but i know the sales person pretty well, and he is supportive. I will keep going back and complain about this until it is fixed. Im sure they will do something for me as long as i keep my cool.[IMG]
They have documentation about my squeaking issue, and once I get my bike loaded up, i may have stronger feelings about them replacing the leafs then.[IMG]!!!

Have an 09 TRD Access cab. Just double checked and it came with the 4 leaf pack, #'s are 48210-04560 E (RH) and 48220-04200 E (LH). Purchased in Calgary, Canada. Ride is superb on these!

Yes, that is because you are in Canada...they shafted customers in the USA. (Not sure about Mexico.)

I admire your values and wouldn't want to compromise them. What you wrote is completely valid for an argument, that you'll be hauling a bike and travelling in the winter. Unfortunately sales people don't have much influence as a service manager would (they are very, very conscience of their reviews) so try that avenue too. Good luck on your TSB, I can only hope that they add the 09 to the TSB list soon as this is a very real problem for people who use thier trucks, like trucks!

sales people dont want service people to screw up their chance of their future sales either! So it cant hurt. Great customer service means everything!

Well I should have checked sooner as my dealership had a 3 day return policy. I just checked and sure enough I had only 3 leafs so I sent them an email telling them about the TSB and hoping I hear back. My truck is only a week old. What gets me if this has been going on for a few years why not just take care of the problem? Still love my Taco though would not have anything else

I would load it with something where the weight would be easy to verify.
With a bulk material like bark mulch, they could turn around and say "You're overloaded".
Maybe there is a vehicle scale in your area that you could use to weigh your loaded rig.
