So im picking up my tacoma this saturday. I have about 1800 i can spend to do some stuff left over from selling my other truck.. its a reg cab mt 4x4. I have the oppourtunity to buy a Leer 100XQ with thule racks for 1800. Which is what I had originally planned to do.. but after thinking about it today i dont know.. I could almost do everything I wanted to do with the truck if I didnt buy the shell and really the only reason i wanted it was for some extra dry storage and I have always kinda wanted one and i think they look great... soo heres what I could do if i didnt buy it

    Tool box for the storage
    Seat Covers
    Bull Bar
    Windows Tinted
    Trailer Hitch
    Pioneer AVH4400BT HU

Which would you guys do and why??

None yet but soon all black.
If i was you I would forget the cap. I think its a waste of money imo. I would do the bull bar. That looks nice and helps the front in alittle incase you hit someone. Not fuil protection but helps. Maybe some new tires aggessive, new wheels, tint the tail lights, black headlights, hids, and maybe a small lift. With 1,800 you could do all of this stuff i said and still have more money to spend. Dont buy the cap and make your tacoma all nice.

Wheels and or tires make a dramatic change. Or bullbar, lightbar, lift, tint all could be for under 1800. Wow good luck post up your changes

bull bars are damage increasers in wrecks usually.

With that being said id look around on TW a little more before you drop 1800 bones within a week or so of time.

    This

they might get a small branch out of the way, but in an accident theyre just weak aluminum

OP, prioritize what you need and look into your options

If you hit head on anything a bullbar i dont think will cause much more damage than you are already gonna get. Not side impact, rear end, roll over, right rear, left rear, front right, left right and so on. Get what you like. Mine is not aluminum for sure. If you wanting to clear a path through the woods get a brush guard. lol

I would do everything you listed minus the bull bar.

Honestly, I dont need anything.. this is the first time Ive had the exact truck I wanted and could actually afford to do anything to it. I wont be off roading in it.. I have about a 45-60 minute commute to school and work 4-6 times a week. Im afraid any lift would suck the mpg down (I had a leveled titan that got 12-13, so even 18 would be a blessing). Im just kinda stoked to have the cash on hand and financially stable enough at 25 to do this stuff. Ive been here a while reading just dont know what to do and my wife is litterally ZERO help haha. thanks guys.

I rear ended a Hyundai (Not my fault entirely) with my bull bar, his trunk looked like an accordion, my bull bar had a decent dent and pushed about 1cm in to my bumper. I removed it and you cant tell I was ever in an accident.

That being said, I do have a set of Relentless bumpers on order...

Next time I'll accordion the roof too....:headbang:

Oh yeah about your thread, I'm assuming Tennessee doesn't have emission controls, you want a good upgrade, free up intake and exhaust (Not a cheap one, URD intake w/ a MAF sensor calibrator to tune both your intake and new exhaust properly), get a throaty sound, a little more torque, and better MPG when watching your pedal while commuting.
Not an easy mod but fits your budget and when tuned properly, you will notice a difference in HP, this is not your bolt on air intake that has been greatly debated on this forum, this will literally need to be hooked up to a computer to re tune your vehicles computer to the upgrades.

My .02 is wheels and tires. It's amazing how they can change the appearance of a vehicle.

I would get the most expensive stuff first. If you spend the 1800 on a bunch of little things, it may be a while before you save up for something big. But if you take care of the big stuff first, then as you have some extra cash you can buy the small stuff hear and there.

Or put the money in the bank and enjoy the truck the way it is. That's what I had done.
Drive it stock for a while. Then add wheels and enjoy the "new" truck again for a while. Later, add the bull bar and you are all over in love again...etc.
