I always shoot manual. And the sun was at my back. And my editing was wrong on this shot. Ian fixed it for me. I tried to level them improperly.

    Thanks for the tips though.

Soooo I gave in and bought a used new to me lens.

35mm 1.8 nikkor for $95 still under warranty. Getting used to it but tested it our earlier today and I'm liking it.

Here are some test shots I took, just added the borders.

I like them, but I will say you should move your subject away from the center of the frame and use the rule of thirds

Yes it does, but I think those photos are fine as the body in the first one makes up for it and the second one is full frame

Yeah, $95 suckered me in haha
Thanks for the input guys, I'll keep that rule in mind as I am still a n00b

After looking at the pics I understand how much of a difference the rule would have made.

Yeah, need to watch behind the subject too so you dont have things growing out of its head. Which is what I think he was trying to do.

Maybe if he had moved slightly right and slightly more around the dog that it wouldve been more interesting.

It may just be me, but I do like it how it is minus the telephone poles I am assuming

What a handsome dog the Husky is. The price was certainly well worth it.

I have been looking for a "smaller" camera to do a couple of things. Take on bike trips and to maybe shoot some timelapse stuff. I wanted something with decent quality and that I could still control like a dslr.

I ended up getting a Panasonic Lumix GH2. I got the 14-140mm lens. It came today. Battery charging and a little manual reading before making a picture.

I'm looking forward to working with it some more.

Looks good Jake! Typography is a lot of fun! A like a lot of type alone designs. I will say on your first picture, the You Are Exquisite one...the R in the are is getting lost. Might want to play with it and see what you can do. Otherwise it looks good!
