Put in an adjusted speedo gear tonight to hopefully get my speedometer and odometer reading properly with the 33's.

Based off this guide on TTORA: I ordered part #33403-39585 off of toyotapartszone.com (only place I could find it).
My old gear has 30 teeth and the new one has 28. According to the guide each tooth difference equates to about a 3% difference.
I calculated that the speedo was off by about 6.25% so hopefully this will get me at pretty close to accurate. We'll see tomorrow, didn't have time to drive around tonight.

    Here's the new gear:
    e5dc74ed_99161c696271ea706c189063e390a7a428c6b6e0.jpg

Real easy install. The assembly is on the back of the transfer case right next to the rear drive shaft. One bolt and unplug it and it's free. Some gear oil will spill when you pull it out so be prepared for that (about an ounce or two). Once it's out pull a retaining clip and the gear slides out. New gear came with a new O ring for the assembly and retaining clip so I replaced those.

Here's a pic of the assembly with the new gear installed and the old gear, O ring, and retaining clip.

I couldn't take it, I'm too used to using the speedo and was constantly finding myself speeding when I remembered it's off. Don't need the ticket. Or at least a bigger one...

Not sure if the 2nd gen's determine speed the same way. If they do it's a relatively cheap ($30 shipped) and easy way to fix it as long as there is a gear with the right tooth count for your needs.

You still want to use my old chunked tire for that special project? Got the old tires in the garage and need to do something with them (along with a bunch of other old parts). Let me know, or fill me in on what you had in mind and I can give it a shot.

My GPS is my phone which I only turn the app on when I need it so I don't always have it there reminding me how fast I'm going.

No ticket, only had one once years ago (before the truck) and would like to keep it that way.

And like I said my truck's not a lease, nor do I ever plan on selling it so I don't give a shit what the odometer says. Totally understand why you would

Looked pretty accurate this morning. Had the speedometer dead on 75 and my GPS was reading 75 with a few blips down to 74.

The odometer was short 1/10 of a mile after 7 miles based on the highway markers. But I never checked my odometer before so I'm not sure if was ever accurate. Not concerned with the odometer though, as long as the speedo is accurate I'm happy.

You too John, the KM2's were great. Never had a traction problem and definitely enjoyed the extra height of the tall skinny's on trail 13.

Caught some rash on the passenger side wrap of the rear bumper. Don't remember doing that. :notsure:

Had my first full normal tank on the 255/85R16 KM2s with the speedometer/odometer corrected. Came out to 16.69 mpg. I was getting between 16-17 mpg with the 265/75R16 ATs, usually around 16.5. So at this point I would say it's a wash, I'll keep checking and see what I get.

Picked up a bed extension bar at harbor freight yesterday for $44. Flipped it the other way so it's up instead of out to carry a kayak between it and the roof and keep my tonneau closed. There's enough space to open the tailgate and get my arm in there to unlatch the tonneau.

    liveotOAgx_a9c89c636caa31becb4f4e0a55fdc63678b35e26.jpg

I'm going to cut it down so it sits level with the roof. Debating if I should try and get a roof rack that will tie into the access cab windows or just use the foam (trimmed to fit unlike in the pic) with a ratchet strap through the access cab windows.
