Well, we got acquired by Raytheon, and he was a key member of the company. I'm sure he came out well.

He was telling my dad they take a private jet to atlanta to buy beer all the time. My dad also saw his jeep and got to talking about offroading and told the guy about how I hung out with a bunch of tacoma guys and he said the guy told him "yep, i'm sure they've pulled me out before" Thats when I made the connection.

You're sure he said private jet? I know he flies a plane he's part-owner of to Asheville to buy beer. Which isn't exactly cheap, but it's a prop plane, not a jet, so it's an order of magnitude cheaper...

I'm sure my dad wasn't paying that close of attention. He said twin engine jet, so most likely a twin engine cessna or something similar. where is that picture of kyle pulling him out? I wanna send it to my dad.

Haha, yeah. He doesn't have a private jet AFAIK, he's an amateur pilot that part-owns a twin-engine prop plane. The main reason he flies out for beer is to log hours for his license, I think. Still an expensive hobby, but not even close to Gulfstream expensive.

But yeah if it's that subdivision in madison on mill road, that's him.

Picture should be somewhere in the picture thread for the meet.

I went and did a test run of the trail in paint rock yesterday to measure the water and stuff. at its deepest part of the creek we'd have to cross it was only 13.5 inches. but that was before the rain. if we waited on a week with no rain at all and it was a little warm that weekend would be perfect. this place has trail riding, fishing, and a few mud holes to play around in if you felt like it but theyre not somewhere you would have to get muddy. at the end of the trail there's a pretty wide open area we could have a cookout/hangout and be plenty of room for group pictures.

All this had made me curious, so I called a friend of mine who is an engineer for GM to ask him what was up. He said that automotive grade vent hoses (i.e. rubber hoses for venting as well as vacuum hoses in the engine) are designed to not collapse until you are at nearly 30 inches of vacuum. This means that you would have to be somewhere in the vicinity of 34 feet of water before the hoses MIGHT collapse. I don't think any of us will have to worry about that! lol. He said as long as you reroute the vent outlet to a point above the waterline, you will be just fine. I should have thought of this myself since I know that engine vacuum at idle can be around 15 inches, and increases with acceleration (except in the case of turbo or super-charged engines) So the rubber lines would HAVE to hold up without collapsing!

EDIT: By the way, for those who are curious, I will be ordering my new engine within a day or two. I am going to keep the same displacement due to cost and simplicity. I will have a remanufactured engine block, but brand new head and valves. Also while she is down, she is getting sanded down, dents repaired, and will have a fresh coat of Dodge Viper Blue pearl. I love the color and am looking forward to seeing her all shiny and new!
