I average 90 mph every morning on the highway to work (posted 70mph..i think). My detector has saved me countless times! Had it forever, and will be replacing it soon with an updated model.

BTW, no tickets or pull overs in over 6 years...:D

edit: would also like to add that in South Florida this is common, as the flow off traffic is normallyatleast 10 over in my experience...don't want anyone to think Im on the road being crazy and risking lives being completely stupid....more like mildly impatient...

Eh...they're ok, I think they're a waste of money unless you haev really bad luck with getting caught or with cops in general but the beeping and the fact that they're a big eyesore kinda kill it for me.

Now if they had a dashboard integrateable one...

Quoted for truth.. well, except the speeding part. But it does work to keep my speed in check.

I have driven 5-10 over for over 1.5 million miles had one for about 3 months then lost. If you not going nuts they tend to leave you alone.

But i think if your in the left lane going under the speed limit and you have a radar detector in your window you need a ticket just on general princple

Yes 1.5 million i was a long haul truck driver and local for 11 years then all the miles i have put on the cars i have owned

why? nothing illegal about doing under the speed limit unless youre on a road with a set minimum...

if i wrote tickets on general principle or rudeness or stupidity then my hand would fall off and id spend half my life writing tickets

sure...its rude to drive below the MAXIMUM POSTED speed...but its not illegal

I pretty much get about two tickets a year. I never learn. Just like to go fast. Never been in a accident. Knock on wood. Highest one was 96 in a 65. Cop lowered it for me though. Thank god. And no, I never tell my squadron about them. Never got a ticket on base, But lately I have been pushing that to.

Depends on the state- Techincally driving in the left lane and not passing someone else is ticketable in FL- Never happens. But it COULD.

If you don't have a security clearance that's great- Otherwise- You are asking for a ROYAL ass destruction. Tickets with fines greater than $150 are supposed to be reported to SecCen-If they find them and you didn't mention them....I pity the fool.

Good luck- I'm glad I don't know your real name or squadron...Plausable Deniability...=)

thats a ticket here too...but its up to the officer to decide if its really "impeding" and at least here...its usually written only on 2 lane roads with no passing area

I actually think rude should be punishable by instant summary judgement- and a prompt PIT maneuver from me.

A.R.S. 28-704. Minimum speed limits; requirement to turn off roadway A. A person shall not drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.
    B. If the director or local authorities within their respective jurisdictions determine on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that slow speeds on any part of a highway consistently impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, the director or local authority may determine and declare a minimum speed limit below which a person shall not drive a vehicle except when necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.
    C. If a person is driving a vehicle at a speed less than the normal flow of traffic at the particular time and place on a two-lane highway where passing is unsafe, and if five or more vehicles are formed in a line behind the vehicle, the person shall turn the vehicle off the roadway at the nearest place designated as a turnout by signs erected by the director or a local authority, or wherever sufficient area for a safe turnout exists, in order to permit the vehicles following to proceed.

I thought that was BS the first time my dad told me that. But then he showed me that he could actually estimate pretty accurately.

    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
I own an older model and it picks up the electronics in radar and laser detectors whether or not the cop is pulling the trigger. Have a friend who's a sergeant at a local PD, she told me the same thing..."your detector won't help because we use instant on laser". So she stood next to her car with the unit in her hand, on but not active, and my detector went off. Bad side was it also picked up shopping malls, Radio Shack stores, kids with cards in their bicycle wheel spokes....

The thing died about a month ago though. On the bench to be opened and see if there's anything obvious wrong that I can fix.

edit just went and looked, it's a Whistler 1530
